Jiggles, I think some people have questioned whether a dominant scrum is important - that's what I was referring to. It's an interesting debate that one. The Wallabies have still been consistently 2nd or 3rd in the world despite a perennially weak scrum, so maybe Jones was right. The problem...

Thank you Jnor. The rugby is about to start! :)

I think it's the best test we have, ChargerWA, performance: the Tahs have been dominant against most Soup Rugby scrums, while other Australian scrums (including my own team, the Rebels) have simply been competitive. When he's off the field they're certainly not as good. For my money, any front...

    Hooper vs Gill

It's probably heresy but I think either of these young blokes can be as good as Poey. Hooper plays more like a six though. It's a shame he's not 10kg heavier.

Brumbies v Reds Super Rugby round 14

If a prop can't insult the opposing team during scrums then he should consider playing in the backs.

Indeed. It's obviously been true that the Waratahs can't convert their obvious tight five superiority into wins, but it'd be a disaster for the Wallabies to return to the philosophy that scrummaging superiority doesn't equate to wins because it doesn't work out that way for the Tahs. The Tahs...

    Wallabies vs Scotland - 5 June 2012

Proof perhaps that professional athletes can no longer play three back-to-back rugby seasons like Elsom tried to do. He came back slightly crocked and has never really got back on the field, let alone into form. It's a lesson for potential future sabbatical-takers.

Some of these are the same arguments as Eddie Jones put forward in 2001, from which we're only now recovering as a scrummaging nation.

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

We are more likely to beat France in the final than the ABs are. That's no slight on France, it just seems to be the way the psychology works.

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

I can't pick tomorrow. I keep wavering between traditional AB dominance and newfound Wallaby steel. It's possible we'll play France in the final, having absolutely gritted it out against the ABS. What the hell do we do then?

RWC 2011 SF2: Australia vs. New Zealand

Wallaby 13s in the modern game often make no meters, no matter who they are. They don't get the ball - the Bermuda Triangle of backline positions.

    Wow.

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

Sorry to be so ignorant - but did Wales fans travel to Cardiff in numbers for this game?

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

This is indeed becoming extremely spooky.

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

Yeah, have to support the All Blacks if they're there against the French!

    RWC 2011 SF1 - Wales v France

I just so much wish you'd won it. It'd have been a victory for the ages. You went very close. Next time!

If we had lost to South Africa ...

Great post! That is in my memory bank for future use.

    RWC 2011 SF1 - Wales v France

I'll be putting a cheeky Euro or two on Wales for 2015.

    RWC 2011 SF1 - Wales v France

Indeed. A match deciding card for a tip tackle has been overdue for some time. The Wallabies might well have suffered a few already, were the referees better sighted.

RWC FINAL - New Zealand vs France

It's a sad thing, but the France win is a good thing for the other finalist, since they're obviously not as good a team as the Welsh. Wales will shake a few tail feathers in the next few tears. They are heads and, erm... tails better than the rest of the European teams. I would take a few of...
