Yes i always preferred TPN starting, not because he's better than Moore, simply because I'd rather have Moore playing in the second half when the chips are down. Also TPN's physical style is particularly effective in the first 20 minutes of a game

You pose some interesting questions. One possibly attractive option would be to start with an all Brumbies front row of BennyA/Moore/Palmer. It's an established combination and a strong front row imo. In the second half you could bring on Robbo/TPN/(Slipper/Ryan/Kepu). Again you have an...

Was this written tongue in cheek? Is Folau already notorious for losing possession? After 6 games? he's certainly shown handling skill that are better than most rugby players in the country. Learning how and when to ensure you retain possession in the contact is one skill that you have to...

I'd like to see more OZ players suffering from this particular ailment. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) so often shines for us at test level. There is a reason they call him Mr fix-it. And I'd agree that O'Connor has those same quality. I rate O'Connor very highly. I'd have faith in him regardless of the number on his back.

Barnes Played some good footy last year against the Northern Hemisphere opponents but I really cant see him in the starting 15 at this point. I see him as a reliable back-up, but not much more. As Gnostic pointed out he doesn't really stand out in any area of the game. It will be crying shame if...

Didn't manage to see the Tahs v Force game, but caught the other 3 Oz teams' games this weekend and the players that stood out for me were: O'Connor Mowen To'omua Genia Gill Cooper Taps Sio Palmer Alexander Two players that did not perform well from my view are Phipps and Slipper. Slipper was...

Personally I'd like to see Gill, Hooper and Smith all play some role in the Lions Series. It should be a horses for course approach as all three players bring something different to the table (Smith - versatility, experience, good link play, Gill - Strongest over the ball imo and has a great...

Highlanders v Reds Good Friday 29th March

If either team are off their game they will lose. It's a bit hard to tell exactly where the Reds are at this season. To date, their forward play and general defence has been very solid, but otherwise they've been less than impressive. They're probably at the precipice right now, and will go...

http://www.planetrugby.com/lions-09/story/0,25883,16024_8600671,00.html Just read this article. Comments from Deans are encouraging, although the following quote suggest to me that Deans doesn't see Smith as first in the pecking order. "It's always good to have a longer queue of players...

this is true. Beale's behaviour must push him outside the 22, although I'd still like to see him in the squad. He's potentially a great bench option.

Right now my backrow would probably be: 6. Mowen 7. Hooper 8. Palu 20. Smith (covering 6,7,8)

Highlanders v Reds Good Friday 29th March

They don't appear to be playing very well atm. pretty simple. Desperation doesn't win you games, or the Force would have won more under Sharpe. Normally at this time of the season the Highlanders are playing champagne rugby. I'd rather face them before they get any momentum

Highlanders v Reds Good Friday 29th March

This is a game the Reds should win. They are getting the Highlanders at the right time. If the Reds start well they'll take this one. Provided no injuries.. 1.Holmes 2.Hansen 3.Slipper 4.Horwill 5.Simo 6.Quirk 7.Gill 8.Shatz 9.Genia 10.Cooper 11.Ioane 12.Taps 13.Fainga'a 14.Shipperley 15.Lance...

    2013 S15 Australian Conference

Yes overall I'm pretty happy with the standard of the oz conference so far. the Brumbies are probably on par with the Stormers/Chiefs/Saders at the top, the Reds look to be building nicely, the Force are looking pretty competitive this year and the tahs look at least better than last year...

    2013 S15 Australian Conference

The Force are starting to play some decent rugby. The Rebels on the other hand seem to be getting worse as the season wears on.

Re lance, he's someone I see at the moment as reliable, if a tad unspectacular. It's a bit hard to judge him when he's playing in different positions; probably not in his preferred position. I think he'll get time at centre stage for the reds in the next few seasons. Then we'll see whether...

yes probably the most hotly contested position. I'd say Mitchell, Ioane, OConnor, Speight, Honey Badger, Tomane, Mafi, Mogg all plausable options.

My preferred backline at the moment would be. 10.Lilo 11. Mafi 12. Taps 13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 14. O'Connor/Mitchell 15. Mogg Beale on the bench

Alfi Mafi is looking like the new Digby Ioane atm. In fact Digby seems to have lost a bit of his speed and explosiveness over the last 12-24 months. For mine, Mafi is quickly shaping as his long term replacement.
