I agree. I thought carefully. There is plenty in the public domain.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There is only one way to find out, though. And what is the choice? Fold up our tents and slink away?

Jones is a self-serving narcissist with a very dubious background as a schoolteacher.

One point that I might make about Melbourne, is that it actually has a long history of pretty significant depth in our game, before WW2 Victoria actually beat NSW! Plus of course the time zone is very friendly for our major domestic market. Ewen McKenzie was a product of Scotch College. WA...

Absolutely right on the money. Those of us who have been around for longer than the last twenty years understand the full historical background. I have said this a number of times: To achieve anything, the first step is to set the right (achievable) objectives. The second step is to...

I am sorry to say this, but the NRC will be a harmless irrelevancy for the forseeable future. I really wish it could be otherwise. Now if we had stuck with the ARC, think how much further down the road to relevancy we might be.

Which, like every organisational structure, would have its strengths and its weaknesses.

Similar types were at the helm during our boom years. The biggest boomer of all, JON was the archetypal banking high flyer.

Errr, yes, that's how it works. But I have to be honest, as much as I would regret genuine suppliers and so on being dudded, I would be extremely happy for the weirdo to take a big fat haircut.

I am no expert, but my understanding is the receivers would take over the running of the organisation in the first instance. I assume that their main priority would be to keep it going in some form, while working out how to pay outstanding creditors (at a loss to the creditors). I assume...

    Sydney Subbies 2020

Just like in the good old, bad old days. Although back then there was usually one Saturday in between rugby and cricket seasons. Great day for a long lunch in the beer garden at the Eastwood Hotel!!! Curried prawns and rice at the Chinese chew and spew across the road!!!

Peter Ryan? Andrew Walker (okay, he did start in club rugby before going to the dark side), Mat Rogers did okay for us without any huge controversies, there are a few now in Australian Soup teams who look promising and have behaved themselves. Rocky Elsom played Jersey Flegg.

Maybe we need to be a bit more creative, offering scholarships for tertiary study, for example, and making semi-professionalism a bit more accessible. Create situations where good footballers do not have to choose between a profession and a rugby career. Surely not every good young prospect...

Good to see you back here. In most voluntary or not-for-profit organisations, if you want to get the top, you start at the bottom and work week after week. Not to doubt you, but have you done the hard yards that have earned you promotion through the serried ranks up to the point where you might...

Yep, the simple fact is that the job was, and is, a poisoned chalice. I for one cannot imagine anybody who is on the way up in the world of sports management wanting to take it on, and would be very suspicious of the motives (and capability) of somebody like Phil Kearns. Why does he want the job?

I for one would not like to see RA "cede control" to anybody : like them or loathe them, RA is our sport's governing body, and they represent all of us. And of course they are recognised as such by WR (World Rugby).
