    Rugby News from unexpected places

I forgot that McLinden had a short stint with the Reds... https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/former-raiders-star-arrested-after-pitch-invasion-in-grand-final/ar-AA12zbLX?cvid=496a892ed8d24ecf9a8287a5dd7ff674

Australia A v Japan XV matches

Speculating, although that's the information that was fed to the media last week...

Australia A v Japan XV matches

I wouldn't be picking Tom Wright in the near future based on his recent performances, although he did start the test season strong against England... but... but... Those players you listed weren't all entirely that convincing against... Japan XV. Japan? No... The Japan XV. Context.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

If it all came down to that game, Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) is the outside back I'd be taking on the spring tour... Again, you can see what all the coaches see in Nos Lonergan, but just needs some set piece improvement.

    Wallabies 2023

I guess the other factor with Kerevi is he’s clearly our most important back line player at the moment, but we don’t have access to him all year round while he’s in Japan. If he was fit, he’d still be missing out on another spring tour… for which we might now have to select another o/s player...

    Wallabies 2023

Are we talking about different Sio’s? Surely not the one who was finally back playing in incredibly fine form this year? Anyways, I’m not sure you’re seeing the bigger picture here - obviously if Kerevi is playing in Australia it gives the Wallabies an extra pick if required, as we seem to now...

    Wallabies 2023

Take your pick… Koroibete, Cooper, Foley, Arnold, Skelton, Sio, Banks, Simone… There’s still officially only 3 o/s players allowed at one time.

Australia A v Japan XV matches

If the Wallabies aren't winning the collisions, I wouldn't be reaching out to Hanigan...

But can you imagine all the bleating and obvious Brumbies bias if Kerevi is brought home and named as captain?

Australia A - Back on the Cards

It's what I assumed too, but thought best to check as these aren't test matches... lazy journalists.

Australia A - Back on the Cards

When they say Banks is lined up for second test... do they mean the second game against Japan XV, or the second test on the spring tour?

Australia A v Japan XV matches

I was just thinking the same - give him some games at 6.

Australia A - Back on the Cards

If they're good enough, that's 30 potential future Brumbies in the Junior Wallabies squad... Pathways working a treat.

    Wallabies 2023

I forgot about Sio actually, but if they only take 5 props he might not make it... I was thinking Kerevi and Koroibete are locked in... Quade and Foley if both fit... And probably Arnold. So that makes 5 (6 if they want Sio), and I think Skelton is still up in the air. But I think it's...

    Wallabies 2023

I'm sure the rules will be "relaxed" for a RWC, but I doubt they'll want to go open slather outside of that window... At this stage they'll likely want 4-5 overseas picks for next year... with the rest of the squad filled in with Brumbies players.

    Wallabies 2023

London Irish... looking to play for Tonga next year.

    Wallabies 2023

Skelton and Foley seem penciled in, and I think they’d go with Simone as you’d expect Kerevi, Foketi and Paisami to all cover 12 at the RWC, but if there’s an injury crisis Simone is the next best option and based over there. Other than that, I don’t think there’s any necessity for any more o/s...

Anyways… Doran’s mail is generally reliable, and Payten is now reporting in the SMH that Hooper will resume training to make selection for the spring tour… Squad won’t be announced until after the Aus A series but apparently Foley will be cleared to play, and Skelton likely to be included.
