    Force v Tahs, round 9 2014

He played well for the Gen Blue team against the Argie Pampas XV but he will have had little rugby since then. So only a bench spot then instead of…Holies, I'd say. But when is Kane Douglas going to get a rest, even to the bench? .

    Rugby Quotes of the Week

Lions v Crusaders Warren Brosnihan on Nemani Nadolo (brother of Chris Kuridrani, and cousin of Tevita Kuridrani and Lote Tuqiri) who has changed his name a couple of times since he went to Nudgee College. He's a large specimen and over 125 kgs—when he walked past me I thought the sun had...

    Shute Shield 2014

I think the Rats will have problems against bigger packs. There's a few virtual pygmies in their forwards though they will work like drover's dogs. But their backs are skilful and exciting. .

    Stormers v Tahs, round 8 2014

Agree—I wrote something similar in the discussion area of my blog of the game here: http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/review-stormers-v-waratahs/ .

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Thanks Will it just start streaming from the main page when it starts TOCC, do you know? From the last post I understand that the Under 17s final will be between WA and Victoria in Perth starting at 11am local time. Which teams are in the Under 15 final—and where and at what time? And...

    Brumbies v. Blues Rd 8 2014

I have seldom seen an Aussie team play better in wet conditions than the Brumbies did last night. Sure, box kicks went out on the full, passes were spilled, and the odd bomb was dropped, one dangerously so, but overall it was a commanding performance in what should have been the natural...

Which Clubs are the Class of 2013 going to?

Harry played in the Twos; I didn't see him play but he had a dirty jersey on when I saw him as I arrived just at the end of the Twos game.

Which Clubs are the Class of 2013 going to?

FYI HJ Harry Jones came off the bench to play in 1st Grade for the Rats last week just as Andrew Kellaway did for Randwick. He didn't score a try as AK (Andrew Kellaway) did but he kicked a few conversions. .

    CAS Rugby 2014

I was at the opening game and Baker looked impressive in getting revenge for Knox spoiling their perfect record in the last game of 2012. Harry Jones was outstanding in that game and he wasn't the only one for the Red Tide. [And I note that he came off the bench to play 1st Grade for the...

    CAS Rugby 2014

Guys the CAS comp starts in a few weeks time. Please let me know in this thread if you are going to a game and are interested in doing a match report when the time comes. It doesn't have to be War and Peace, we can get a normal sized one and add a couple of small ones to it to make one blog...

    CAS Rugby 2014

Schoolboys—no more one liner conversations talking up your mates or yourselves or just being silly—or the longer versions of the same. People thought to be doing this will be banned right or wrong. You fellows are destroying a good thread and remind me of idiots who write graffiti. Thank...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

Including, no doubt, his play for Randwick last week v. Eastern Suburbs. I think he'll do as a flyhalf though his best weapon is his side step. But he won't be the goal kicker, and that's another wrinkle. .

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

You could be right—and they were hardly stellar last year were they? That includes flyhalf McIntyre who I thought was poor, but it was his first year out of school and I did not mark him down too badly. I would play Horwitz at 10, not knowing all the others, but NSW U20 played him at inside...

    CAS Rugby 2014

There are a couple of lads who are spoiling this thread by silly comments because they can. They are not special: we get them every season, only the usernames change. From now on we will ban new posters who we think are making silly comments, even if we are wrong. No, it's not a democracy. .

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

It's a part of our rugby upbringing isn't it—an that has a lot to do with the hard, sandy surfaces we play on. Our rugby does not get the premium from close rugby play here as they do in Europe and more of their young lads evolve into bruisers because of the tight work load they have to do on...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

I think there will be a few players playing where we don't expect them to, the same as every year. It's not productive to speculate on the exact breakdown now, though it will keep us off the streets. My guess is that they will wait until the first camp is over before they finalise the squad...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

Didn't see the Canberra games but saw him a lot in the NSW trials. He's a brave and skilful rooster but very slight: a bit like Dempsey was at school. Dempsey is 101 kgs now so if Jack Mac can get near to that next year he could be in the team. .

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

It's his first year out of school so there is nothing untoward in a prop missing out in the Oz U20s as an U19. He made the NSW team, and that was a good effort. It's early days but I fear that Dell may not be big enough to be a senior prop. I said last year that he should switch to hooker...

2014 IRB Junior World Championship – New Zealand

And still we are not mentioning any bruisers who will play 6, just discussing who is better than whom at 6½ or 7. Sometimes it is not the elephant in the room that is remarkable, but the lack of rhinos. .
