Australia Vs Argentina, September 13, Gold Coast

Eales was an athletic freak, could drive a golf ball as far as professionals, got first class cricket offers before choosing rugby. Eales is the one lock I've ever seen in a professional provincial game make four tackles in a freaking row, jumping up to the next one each time. I will admit...

Melbourne Rising V Perth Spirit, 11 September @ AAMI

Kick good, 44 - 24 full time. Bonus point win for the Rising, from what I can gather.

Melbourne Rising V Perth Spirit, 11 September @ AAMI

Holmes goes over a ruck later, good pass and a step inside.

Melbourne Rising V Perth Spirit, 11 September @ AAMI

Spirit maul, run off the back to 1m out, Turner just down from halfback a few rucks later but they were playing advantage. Spirit take a tap.

Melbourne Rising V Perth Spirit, 11 September @ AAMI

2 mins to go, Rising back to 15, Spirit 5m lineout from the Rising line.

    A man down, too.

Last 20 may be painful for the Spirit as the Rising look much fitter.

NSW Country Eagles vs Brisbane City, 14th Sept at Lismore

Ready is a much bigger breakdown threat and has a higher workrate, but is much smaller than Matt Mafi. Depends on what Stiles is after, I guess. If I was Stiles, I would have Turner marking Kellaway.

NSW Country Eagles vs Brisbane City, 14th Sept at Lismore

City team named: 1. David Faeo - Souths 2. Andrew Ready – Reds EPS/Easts 3. Sef Faagase – Reds WTS/University of Queensland...

As much as I may get howled down, I think that Timani would actually be a step down on Carter and Simmons, for workrate and laziness (Timani's technique at ruck time wasn't bad, just his application of it at every second ruck). How Timani is going in France should give you a clue, anyway.

    The League Media

There's some good role models to copy too, if you want to talk to the ref. As a rugby example, Hoiles when he was captain - there's a guy you should copy. Or if you want to copy a league player, Ennis would be my pick. Refs love them!

Qld Country - official NRC thread

Shame, as Gale doesn't get a chance to redeem himself for his poor first game. That was a lovely pass from Ant for the final try.

It's about choosing your time to kick. Waratahs got it all wrong in 2013 by trying to run most of their clearances, and it didn't work well for them. They got the balance much better in 2014.

    Australia v South Africa - Perth - 6 September 2014

In that game, Simmons offloaded to Carter to set up a good attacking raid, and he had a text tackle around the thighs that drove the runner back and allowed Hooper to force a penalty for holding on. He also ran Pienaar down, as he has a few times. Yes, Simmons had some impact around the...

    Reds 2015

I also think that Kerevi may start from the bench, needs more development in defence as well. I think that McDuling has actually been pretty good in the NRC so far, better than I thought he would go initially. Think he is fine to have a shot from the bench next year.

    Reds 2015

Not far off I think, only minor quibbles: - No CFS? - Paraka is a LHP, reserve THP will probably be Kite or Talaka. Faagese or Paraka will probably round out the squad LHPs.

Australia Vs Argentina, September 13, Gold Coast

A couple of points regarding Skelton: 1. He has a huge point of difference - his carrying and soft hands, and ability to attract defenders. Yes, this is what we currently need. 2. However, I think that Skelton is a worse scrummaging lock than Carter, Simmons and Horwill - too often I have seen...

Australia Vs Argentina, September 13, Gold Coast

Let's not, but just remember a major reason is the quality (or lack thereof) of Bruce stadium. I heard many stories of the debacle about the Lions game there as the facilities (particularly for corporates and press) were sub-standard. If the new stadium in Canberra gets built, then I think...

    Brumbies 2015

Don't think so, as evidenced by Lilo at 12 and To'omua at 10. Besides, Sio has been very effective at LHP for the Brumbies. They would need to swap Alexander back to LHP, which I think would weaken their scrum overall as Alexander never could attack a THP the way Sio can. Plus, Ala'alatoa...

    Brumbies 2015

What does that mean for the Smith brothers? Or are the Brumbies rolling with 6 props next year: Sio, Smith, Makin (LHPs); Alexander, Alaatoa, Smith (THPs).
