Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Some people read the numbers and know they are a fantasy. the old excuse "all the other kids are doing it" has never been acceptable. people see zero input into juniors from the ARU,they see numbers diminish in the comps their kids participate in. Then they read the ARU's perspective, is that...

    Wallaby Coaching Staff

That's my bad. I just re read the article and it does say after RWC. Which is a pipe dream. The ARU has a history of reappointed poorly performed coaches just before big tournaments. So it's Cheika's until he's had enough, or Zimbabwe regularly beat us,

    Wallaby Coaching Staff

I just briefly read it. Did Larkham really say his ambition is to be head coach at the next RWC? So there will be friction in the coaches box ! I remember reading when he was backs coach for the Brumbies, he went to the board requesting they instruct the head coach not to talk to the backs,as...

I think boarding facilities is also a big factor, now that it's live in for all participants.

No, they could hold it interstate,as an alternative :)

Then you cover less Schools, you don't try and cover the same number, in a half arsed manner. Do it properly,or just don't bother wasting resources.

My point was, that with the AFL, the teacher is required to do nothing, it's free time for them.No stress,no effort required.

The oval seem to cop a flogging,so maybe there is not a long list of volunteers to host games?

Or you could follow the AFL practise, of providing everything,so it's so easy for the teacher. They have removed the obstacles by providing everything.

Wales vs Australia, 5 November 2016, (1:30am 6 November AEDT) @ Millenium Stadium

Yep, if the strategy is to sack forever, anyone who does not excel in their first game v AB's at Eden Park. We will go through player ranks very quickly, and end up having to pick guys out of Randwick 2's.

    Waratahs 2017

When he left School, he spent a few years changing his body shape. Without doubt he was on a strictly controlled diet over a reasonable period of time. There is no need to educate him or his family, they already know it.

Pulver made a speech at Riverview a few years ago, inferring that a) it was an ARU initiative b) ARU was heavily subsidising the event

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2016

It was held at Ballymore in 2010? Accomodation was not included, but they had activities for the kids on non playing days. Seemed to work ok, from reports I heard. Most interstate kids have at least one parent supporting and/or relatives/friends they can stay with. The ARU seems to have solved a...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

What other code spends its time organising camps for the very wealthy? this just serves to validate the negative stereotype that Rugby is for the elite. Good on the ARU for the Viva program. But again,it's available for any Schools that register. They need to compete with AFL and knock on...

That's one way to go about it. The other is to offer live in camps at $3k a pop. Not hard to pick which is the winning strategy.

    Rugby 7s general chat

The linked article demonstrates all that is wrong with ARU. The men's 7's are better resourced than ever, and next years target is a top 8 finish. What's the 2018 target going to be? Regain our spot on the 7's circuit? Why are we the only nation that has turned over a few players the year after...

I'm happy for him to tour, I'd be perplexed if he made his Rugby debut in a Test. However, we don't take turns, and if the best available is the Mungo, then so be it.

What cheapens the jersey more, picking a star straight out of another code,or picking a guy cos he's literally the last 12 standing?
