The one and only Wallaby Coach thread

Yeah, we should be working to get him involved in pathways and ideally coaching development, where we sorely need to expertise and investment. Programs like the youth coaches forum are a great start.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Oh right haha, that might make more sense. I read it as being a reference to a recurring back issue.

I don't think so, the article states he's had the niggle on and off since school:

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

It seems like if the Victorian government wanted to fund the Rebels they would do it by giving money to the Rebels, not RA.

Write up of the youth coaching forum from the Reds: https://reds.rugby/news/thirst-for-knowledge-among-coaches-remains-as-strong-at-youth-rugby-coaches-forum-2024129 A lot has been made about the lack of coaching development in the game in Australia over the past decade or two, and there's no...

    Queensland Reds 2024

Wouldn't mind seeing Hewat back in Brisbane, but at the same time I don't think we need to be wasting cap space on more back row options right now. The set we've got is still relatively young and already very strong and both Brial and Bryant look like great options coming through. That might...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

The weight of the debt they accrued in that period would still be incredibly problematic even if it was re-instated this year - it's not as though there was ever any suggestion that the shortfall from the previous 3 years would've been paid out to the teams.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I broadly agree with him but I'm not sure the organization or competence is necessarily there at RA for conspiracy as much as it is individual bad actors. It'll be interesting to see how RA move forward from here though, if they want to move on from the McLennan era there clearly need to be more...

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) Trials: QLD Reds v Western Force, Ballymore, 3/2/24 @ 3:00pm AEST

No - I got in touch with the membership department and there are no free or discounted tickets for members.

    Aussie Player Exodus

The Bears are bidding as "Moana Pasifika" style bid, still based out of North Sydney. Not sure they'd accept a Perth side, particularly if it ended their chances of a team in their heartland. As far as AB's go Clarke is probably the most likely but Ardie Savea would probably be the dream get...

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) Trials: QLD Reds v Western Force, Ballymore, 3/2/24 @ 3:00pm AEST

Sounds like a minor back issue that he has had for a while: https://www.rugby.com.au/news/tom-lynagh-niggle-adds-intrigue-to-reds-flyhalf--question-2024128 Makes sense to hold him from the trials if he's just about right, though ideally he'd be good for some minutes in the second one. Probably...

    SVNS Series 2023/24

I think next year might be a year too soon for him to crack the Wallabies squad, but with wingers you never know. Certainly Nawaqanitawase's departure will have opened a door for him there. I wouldn't be amazed if he ends up spending the year with the 7s side if it gets him off the Rebels...

    Aussie Player Exodus

It'll likely all come down to financial backing from outside the game, which is what has PNG in the box seat right now. Plenty could happen there to jeopardize that though and the Warriors recent success with fans will have the NRL tempted to capitalize in NZ, even if it risks squeezing it dry...

    Aussie Player Exodus

The only saving grace there will be if they go with a second NZ side and look to poach from New Zealand first for name recognition. Would still likely see a few of our guys lured over as player movement happens, particularly in and around the under 20s, but the pressure would fall more on...

    SVNS Series 2023/24

Didn't get the wins but it's a big improvement on the table for both our sides. The Women have extended their lead at the top to 12 points and it's hard to see anyone outside of New Zealand and France running that down. Even then it would take a massive decline in form from us so far to let...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I'm hoping the focus is more on the players and how they handled the turmoil, ideally setting it up to follow them for a few more seasons with a hopefully more positive result. It doesn't have to shy away from the Eddie drama or ignore what went on there, but he also doesn't need to be the...

SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) Trials: QLD Reds v Western Force, Ballymore, 3/2/24 @ 3:00pm AEST

No word yet, but it was a bit patchy last year so it'll probably depend on the game. The Reds have always been good for a stream on their home trials though, so it's pretty likely this game will be on their youtube if not Stan as well.

A really well managed 2nd half sees Australia beat Fiji 22 - 7 in the men's semi. Both Australian sides into the final!

    SVNS Series 2023/24

Half time for Aus-USA in the other Women's semi. Entire half played in USA's half, but they've defended well - only 12-0 so far. Really important try to Australia on the half.
