    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

I think we should look to run them off their feet. The French are at the end of a long season and Top 14 rugby is often quite slow. A quick game, as long as we can match their physicality should open them up.

    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

SOO substantially increased their ticket prices this year. The Wallabies tickets are significantly cheaper.

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Yikes, as Braveheart said, goals will be able to be kicked from scrum penalties after repeated infringements. If a team with a weaker scrum is getting steamrolled, and the stronger team is basically able to force a penalty at every scrum then you'll get a loop of penalty goals and scrums. From...

    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

According to that article they've estimated 29k based on the current ticket sales while assuming a late surge in demand and a decent walk up crowd. It might well be lower than that.

    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

http://www.news.com.au/sport/queensland-fans-react-to-dropping-of-will-genia-by-snubbing-of-wallabies-test-against-france/story-fnaqgujp-1226942231096 The 'reacting to the dropping of Genia' angle is a massive stretch. As is John Connolly's suggestion it's all about the economy. If there's...

    Wallabies v France 1st test - Suncorp 7 June

Apparently the ARU are projecting a crowd of under 30k on Saturday. That is really very poor.

    National Rugby Championship 2014

There won't be much time between the end of the Shute Shield or Super Rugby and the start of the NRC! Seems like there's going to be a mad rush in the 2-3 weeks before the tournament starts as it's all extremely quiet at the moment. Do you know when the draw is likely to come out?

    Waratahs 2014

That really is insane. It highlights what we're up against. Not sure how we're going to keep players in Australia in a few years. The Wallaby jersey won't be enough when players can earn 3 times as much in France. Toulon will probably be able to offer a guy like Folau €1 million+ per season...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

I'm a little more open minded on this one. This has been trialled in the Varsity Cup so I presume they must have had some good results. I'm guessing the panel will have been in touch with South African officials about it. As long as you can't mark your own kicks (or a kick from a teammate)...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

    3. After a successful or unsuccessful penalty goal attempt, play is restarted with a scrum to the non-kicking team at the place of the penalty. This is the one that I think is absolutely terrible. How on earth did this get through. Hey, lets put the two parts of the game that people complain...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

I agree with your analysis WCR. Most are fairly sensible minor tweaks that might have a small positive effect in reducing time wasting etc. But there's nothing particularly innovative that will encourage more risk taking or creative play and nothing to discourage cynical tactics or jakeball...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

Very disappointed they're not going to trial at least a change in the points system. Taking away the option to kick at goal from scrum penalties isn't enough. If you're going to do it for technical scrum penalties, why not other technical penalties as well? The problem is allowing shots at goal...

    Waratahs 2014

Exactly right RedsHappy. Years of uninspired play and dwindling support have left a lot of Tahs fans here as cautious as a bunch of neglected kittens. But the tide is turning. And a super rugby final would be a very rare occasion and would have major event status in Sydney. 55k would be poor...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

I doubt the IRB will be a problem. The NRC variations are unlikely to be any more radical than what's been tried in the South African Varsity Cup.

Yeah apparently they'll all go to a public vote.

    Waratahs 2014

The Bledisloe is in Sydney every year. The Waratahs in a Super Rugby final in Sydney on the other hand is obviously a lot more rare!! And tickets for a Waratahs final would also be significantly cheaper. I stand by my statement. It would be a failure not to sell it out. Fingers crossed if...

NRC Law Variations - have your say

The shortlist from the NRC rules committee is supposed to be released for public vote today. Maybe they're waiting until the evening to do so? Braveheart, the reason so many people would like to change the laws to reduce penalty goals isn't because any teams are winning unfairly, it's because...

    Waratahs 2014

I don't think you'd need to spend any money advertising on FTA TV for the final if the Waratahs were to make it. There'd definitely be a buzz about it in the media in Sydney. There should be a campaign based around filling the stadium with blue. Ensure the players and Cheika etc are plugging the...

    Waratahs 2014

Actually it will be really interesting to see what crowd the Waratahs can get for the Brumbies match at ANZ. They have 4 weeks to promote it, the prices are reasonable, the Waratahs form and style of play is excellent and the match is crucial. If that isn't the perfect storm for a big crowd I...

The success of League players in Rugby Union

Found an article that said he was as low as 87kg's for the start of the 2013 AFL season, but the Suns website has him listed at 91. Apparently he played at 93 in rugby league and was close to 100 when he played rugby for Biarritz (he was playing in the centres there). If he signed for the Reds...
