Not quite a global season but progress nonetheless.

Should also allow for the NRC to start slightly earlier and finish before the June Internationals that disadvantaged sides the first two seasons, and likely the next few as well.

Not quite a global season but progress nonetheless.

Committed instead of guaranteed. I.e. In Lions years, whoever doesn't host France or the Lions invites a PI Nation to play a single test. Or We invited Japan, but strangely, they wanted to host June Tests! What a silly tier two Nation. Genuine commitment would read differently from the...

Not quite a global season but progress nonetheless.

Can't find the Rugby Post 2019 thread so here we go: http://www.worldrugby.org/news/232038 This line irked me a little. I embrace the sentiment behind the idea, but: a) Tier two is far too broad in scope b) Six games is far too few, and too easily covered by the PIs c) Lack of reciprocal...

If anything, I'd say our future is more secure now that G-Rob has proclaimed that it's the most rocky.

Dewar Shield 2017 & other Vic comps

Maddocks should be in the 2nd group not the first Amirite. Can't complain about Box Hill allocations. Before the season started, I would probably have liked to see Toolis instead of Tupou, but as it stands, Marika because of the Sefa & Fiji connection plus an U19 and everyone else coming back...

    Shute Shield 2017

Pat and Sefa were reasonably regularly down at the Club last year. Albeit, Sefa did start with us and all his mates were/are here, and Pat played a full season with us when he was behind Robinson and Horie.

Round 4: Rebels v Chiefs, Fri 17th March @7:45pm - AAMI Park Melbourne

This week was the ideal time to blood McGregor with the U20s having the week off. Not saying, start him, or even give him more than 10 minutes, just saying, given neither JGB or Volavola is likely to be here next year, I'd vastly prefer him and one over both when he's not playing 80 minutes...

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

Didn't watch or read any reports on the Wasps games last season then? Super Rugby is still the king of "domestic" comps, but the European comps (and particularly the English) are closing the gaps, and it's a lot more to do with their improvement than it is the dilution of the Super Product.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Ok. Good idea. How? As far as I can tell, those that go overseas and come back basically fall into 4 categories. 1) Those that still obtain very large pay packets through Wallabies top ups (e.g. Beale, Genia) 2) Those that return home to finish their careers (e.g. Mumm) 3) Those that come...

    The Wallabies Thread

Only 3 rounds into the comp, with only 5 teams to follow, and someone on an Australian Rugby Fan site doesn't know that a regular Wallaby hasn't played yet, making silly claims as a consequence. Either JB has a very low attention span, the problems facing Super Rugby are a lot closer to the...

    Rebels 2017

Selfish as it may be, I'm more than happy for Coxy and his lot to make us the hardest side to kill. Until our survival is ARU guaranteed, I'm not thinking any further than that, but at somepoint, I'd like to look at who we'd pick up from a dead side.

    2017 Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

McGregor is on a full contract, so that's why he left. Goddard probably wanted a start rather than being behind Strang (is he a year younger too?)

Was Nayacalevu not already capped by Fiji Sevens during his breakout season? AFAIK, he had a very good first season or two, but then went home during/before the 2012 season to play in a local Sevens tournament, which saw him got World Series caps and then Full XVs caps in the same year as the...

WTF! THAT'S INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE. Seriously, Australian recruiters need to be on the phones to PAE, Pyle, Genia and Pat Sio yesterday.
