Your pack usually lifts against us. Except for Brissie last year when they got slapped around like a red headed stepchild.

Right now out of the fit players the one that is playing this week. I would like to see them given time to settle down together. They looked good at times last year. I regret Sias Ebersohn never getting a chance. He plays ten kgs above his weight. Hell of a player. What he could do behind a...

Well then we need Meyer to sit down with the Super coaches and plead with them too play JJ, De Allende and whoever else at 13 so they can learn at Super level. But we know that's not going to happen.

Your last two paragraphs contradict your first two. It's a specialist position. Test match rugby is not a training ground for 13's who have never played there.

Absolutely Pottie is a better option. Picking Smith turned out to me a mare. Interesting point about Potgieter. Will see if I can find out.

Meyer seems hell bent on not playing a 13 at 13. All the players you mention except Foutie of course are not natural 13's Meyer places more value in a big guy at 13 than he does someone who is skilled in the position. I thought Taute was the worst decision he ever made. Then he surprised me...

I cannot see why playing Potgieter is any different to playing M Steyn or any other NH based bok. You may have missed it but Potgieter was quoted in the media here, reacting rather sarcastically to the Bulls suggesting that he "didn't know what he had until he missed it." He looked a bit...

Ulrich: Great post. Marcel deserves the call up but in the past when he was required to play a ball carrying blindside role he struggled. He bent the Argie line in Salta but it remains to be seen if he can be effective when the opposition is fresh. I still can't believe Potgieter has not...

I think you are saying Bissie is better than Strauss in the trenches. Everyone would agree. All I think we are saying is Strauss is very good at it too but offers something different. All I am saying is that Vermeulen has been a meat and potatoes target for the Boks, more than just an extra...

Strauss can play tight or loose. We could not bend the Argie line until Coetzee came on. He is not Alberts but he has been very good. As for the lineout, Vermeluen takes a lot of ball. Sometimes more than the locks.

Got the Toulon Racing game on the box in the office here. That Brand O'COnnor fella can still play.

Reports are that Strauss will start ahead of Bismarck, who looked exhausted and off his game. In my opinion, Strauss saved our skins in Salta. Bismarck on with 20 to go to win some turnovers. Coetzee will start for Alberts. Will be interesting to see if they play Mohoje or Whitely on the bench...

Heyneke Meyer makes strange decisions. I think there is bad blood between Potgieter and the Bulls, and Meyer is close to the Bulls. That can be the only explanation. Having said that, Potgieter was awful for the Boks a couple of years ago. At the time he was thought of a a selection blunder.

ALberts has been poor all year. Has struggled with all sorts of injuries. Whiteley is not a like for like replacement though. Not a blunt instrument like Alberts. Whiteley is really more of an 8. We migth see Vermeulen move to 7 if Whiteley is subbed on. Coetzee will start who in my...

"Puffing the big guys out" They are not bigger. Not. See my comments on 20 other threads about this complete misnomer. There is little to no difference in size. If there is one guy who will get puffed out it's Skelton. This idea of running the big pack around is bullshit. It's a hangover...

This BIG South African pack perception is slightly misguided. There have been tests recently where the Boks were outweighed, which happen more often than not these days. From memory in a couple of test the Wallaby pack outweighed the Boks but I can't find the stats now. There is very...

For 60 minutes they were losing until Adriaan Strauss and Coetzee came on and completely turned a match. The first thing Strauss did when he came on was pull the forwards together and he must have read them the riot act because suddenly they woke up. Bismarck is just an amazing player but...

Right now the Bok pack can do with Potgieter. Alberts has been shite and then replaced by old man Juan Smith who was nowhere on Saturday. Alberts is supposedly fit again so we'll see if he can play again like last year when he ran through the Wob backline like it was an open barn door.
