I would have thought all coaches will have to adhere to them. Surely that's common practise at the highest level of coaching. Good point on future prospects - but if you're looking at things from a financial perspective, might as well take the gig, lose, and retire early ;) (i know that's a...

If you can terminate your contract and just get a big payout - then where's the motivation to win?You might as well lose and get 4 years pay in 2 years.

    Michael Cheika

Possibly the payout will be less hasn't met the KPI's. They wouldn't be straight forward KPI's. I'd imagine they'd be tiered. And yes, he would likely be paid more if he meet those KPI's and less if he doesn't. I really don't see a big issue if the contract says they can terminate you and you...

I disagree. You obviously need effective KPI's. 50% win ratio in the first year, 55% second, 60% third and so on etc. And even if he doesn't meet that criteria they can still keep him on if they think he's doing a good job. But they then have the ability to terminate if there's another...

How's Hanigan tracking these days anyway? I know he gets a lot of criticism - and rightly so. But I think he was always a good future prospect, he was just way too fresh for test rugby. He should be starting to be more effective into contact now.

I'd prefer a 4 year contract - but stricter performances reviews and ability to terminate if those KPI's / win ratio isn't met. I prefer the coach has a long-term strategy rather then short-term winning mentality. Such a good chance to develop young players without trying to rush things...

Does Skelton jump in the line-out yet?

    World Player of the Year?

Interesting on the 6 nations. We may see more welsh nominations then. Do they take club games into account? I thought they only rated them on the internationals?
  9. Viking

    World Player of the Year?

Gee I'd argue Underhill would be up there with Itoje and Farrell.

    Wallabies 2020

Fair call. But a lot of the direction for improvement comes from the international level. For example, saying to Kerevi - we aren't picking you until you learn to pass, your starting on the bench until you do, we don't care how good at ball-running you are - To'omua is starting at 12 until you do...

    RWC 2019 SF1: New Zealand v England

And to be fair, lots to criticize about ref performances this RWC, especially in the pool stages.

    World Player of the Year?

Sexton missed a few games didn't he? and the ones he did played weren't too flash. So I'd be disappointed to see his name in there. I like Pollard, Steph du toit and Kolbe too. Kolbe is a great nomination, I hope he makes it on the field in the final and has a blinder.

    World Player of the Year?

Any guesses? I'd imagine the majority of nominations will come from England and SA. I'd say Underhill, Itoje, Farrell, Faf, would get nominations so far - but hard to pick any stand-outs really as most the England squad has performed so well, and no big stand-outs in SA. Can't see any...

Itoje is really the exception when it comes to lock play. He is so naturally athletic and skillful it's going to be very difficult to replicate that. It's like saying we need all our Hookers to start playing like D. Coles, or all our props to start running like Tupou. Up-skilling all...

RWC 2019 Final: England v South Africa

It's really the worlds best attacking team Verse the world's best defensive team. A tally of two styles of play. Hard to go past England as their defence is superb as well and they just have more strings to their bow. Either way I'm predicting a cracker of a match. Underhill with MOTM.

    Michael Cheika

She could have fined and suspended him. EDIT: Although sacking was always the likely outcome.
  17. Viking

    Michael Cheika

Not sure we would be in a better position is she sacked Cheika 1 year ago with no decent replacement. She played the long-game, give Cheika one more 1 year, save paying him out and have more coaching options after the RWC. Make some changes at least - which Cheika didn't like but that likely saw...

    RWC 2019 SF1: New Zealand v England

A lot of those points came when Aus were chasing the game in the last 20 minutes. You could easily argue the wallabies scrum, line-out, and attack at some periods in the game looked better then the AB's. Although, I do agree, it's not a lot of credit given we were clearly dominated, but...

    RWC 2019 SF1: New Zealand v England

Both tries were correctly ruled out. You have to give credit for the camera man and TMO for picking it up.
