    Where to for Super Rugby?

Great idea for Aus rugby - another RWC! Just like we husbanded and deployed our equivalent windfall from the RWC 2003, so cleverly, so strategically, so competently. So much to show for it today. Just give us another one and we'd do it all over again, right?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I know dudes who know Ritchie well, a very smart businessman, but, above all, note the _track record and experience in the successful management of an elite, professional sports organisation_. Our ARU has zero, yes zero, of that. Ritchie may have made a mistake with Lancaster, that he's likely...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I know you will defend the ARU to the death BH, you have relentlessly defended, excused and rationalised against criticism virtually the whole Australian rugby status quo here for many years. You are of course entitled to that misguided perspective, however tragically wrong, as I sincerely...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There is no point in the ARU issuing one of its usual patronising-to-fans bullshit 'positivity' statements until, with genuine substance, it has something concrete to be positive about. The hard truth is that it possesses little of substance to be positive about in March 2017. It has already...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

More than that. All up, with the original foundation expenses, massive losses financing over a number of years and the continuing $ms JV subsidy support to Cox's company, insiders put the total ARU cash spent on the Rebels at over $20m. A huge sum, relative to the ARU's size and resources. A...

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

As a lover - but also heavy critic - of Australian rugby, overall I agree with you. I've been posting here since 2010 and it's notable the degree to which our general deterioration in success at Wallaby and Super levels has been accompanied by an exponential increase here in ref shaming and...

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

BJ - did that Bulls player have priors? QC (Quade Cooper)'s for high tackles go back to (at least) July 2012 (on B Barnes).

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

Perhaps Stiles is leading the charge through his own fury re QC (Quade Cooper)'s ill-disciplined recklessness before the SANZAAR judiciary opines.

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

Ummmm, yes. Let's call a spade a spade. QC (Quade Cooper) knows the rules, he knows since January the rules have been tightened and the head-high tackle penalty-giving threshold has been significantly lessened in terms of assessed severity and type of resulting punishment. He's had comparatively recent...

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

....indeed and I think the ref declared of the incident that the QC (Quade Cooper) high tackle was 'with force' (ie more 'reckless' with even higher risk of head injury) by the tackler upon the tackled and my impression was that this assessment drove the ref to impose the 'maximum' penalty of a red card vs yellow.

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

QC (Quade Cooper) cited. Hearing 7pm (I assume RSA time) Sunday. He has priors for this same offence.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Wamberal - I respect as always your opinion but I do not and will not share your palpably low expectations and inferred acceptance of low standards of leadership and management quality in well-paid executive positions directly or indirectly funded by we rugby fans. As other posters have...

Round 4: Lions v Reds, Sun 19 March @ 1:15am AEST Ellis Park, Johannesberg

What I would say is that if the 'we're really rebuilding well under the covers despite a very mixed season start' hypothesis is correct - and NB I am not saying it is not - then we must attain a 'breakthrough'-type win away from home vs good competition pretty soon or the theory may need...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

........and SANZAAR has been working on this 'review' since August 2016. It would be the stuff of a new comedic sit-com (a Monty Python or Yes, Minister of rugby perhaps?) if the obvious institutional incompetence and poor judgement arising from it all was not so serious.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No one is suggesting netball here is some kind of perfectly guiding analogue for rugby here. The sole point made was/is that Netball Australia appear to be well-run, appears to be adopting a sound and creative overall code development model that (a) attracts FTA and Pay TV (b) positively...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

That's an astute point BH. And it's precisely the vicious circle, death spiralling, nightmare-of-closed-boxes that the ARU has got itself into. Its physical 'national footprint' expansion plan has proved an unceasing major financial drain at best, genuine disaster at worst, it's chosen not...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

If ever you want an article that perfectly highlights the _strategic_ and policy judgement failings of Pulver and and the ARU, that is the one. As I've had cause to note elsewhere, the ARU does not possess the calibre of board and executive experience essential to manage and develop a...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Surely the smart strategic thing to do (amongst many others) in the current Super teams imbroglio is to cut the Force or Rebels and relocate the Brumbies to Western Sydney (which is where the original Super expansion should absolutely have been vs Perth or Melbourne). Then get a crack head coach...

    Australian Rugby / RA

You are entirely right. The ARU has been run like a franchising business that's said: '.........great, we're going to expand our network by over 50+% but we've no need to worry about a program to ensure we have an adequate quantity and quality level of managers, trainers and supervisors...
