It's not about hiding shortcomings, it's about using the best of what you've got. The fact that Horne is a stronger defender doesn't mean Beale can't defend, nor does that fact that Beale runs the ball back from a kick better mean Horne can't. Why wouldn't you use the best you've got for each role?
