My sources say Link has decided on a 5:2 split. Probably have Shatz and Gill as the backrow reserves and Lucas and Lance covering everywhere in the backs except wing (where Morahan can move to if needed).

I'm not doubting how good of a side they are but I think they will be on an even playing field as the likes Queensland, Blues and Stormers in comparison to recent seasons where the have always been the top side.

Blues have a good line up this year hopefully they can all click. I'm a bit unsure why the Crusaders are such favourites this year, no major gains, fair amount of losses and no Carter or McCaw for the first few rounds. Not saying they won't finish top 4 but they won't be the side they were last...

The Reds tight forwards have had a lot more game time in the past 12 months in comparison to the Tahs. I can guarentee it will be alot more even then previous encounters. My only major concern is Daley and Hanson's scrummaging, I really hope they have improved since last season because I feel...

Question mark over whether he is fit enough to start though. With Van fit it looks like Samo will start and Shatz off the bench, while poor Ed Quirk (who i was looking forward to watching) seems to drop out of the 22.

With kick-off under a week away I thought it was time to have a proper match thread. Given each sides current injuries, combined with the fact it's only the first round, I am expecting a pretty dour match that will be settled through goal kicking, but maybe that's the pessimist in me talking...
