Its actually pretty common in sport. The FFP rules in Football are aimed at preventing clubs over-extending and sending themselves broke in this way. Makes sense. Sport is about competition and the best way to be competitive is to spend money.

I think there is a hierarchy that dictates what creditors get what money and I'd say unpaid super would be pretty close to the top of that list.

That's probably not entirely fair. There's no interest to drive sales whether that's via tickets or TV revenue. And they need to remain competitive in a wage market inflated by Japan and France. Its not like the rest of the clubs are doing great. Pretty sure only Queensland and (a billionaire...
