I saw the last 20 minutes of 2nds and then 1sts. The 2nds had a big lead and then let up and Norths were coming home hard - Wicks held on to win. The 1sts was a cracking game. For mine, the game involved the Wicks playing attractive creative Rugby and Norths playing very solid defensive...

I am sorry to confirm that it is definitely the same guy. I think it is disappointing as he was showing promise. He would have gone on a second tier contract is my guess and is probably on $40k +. He had previously played NSW cup for Newtown under a second tier Roosters contract.

Interesting selections through the lower grades. Players returning from injury and long layoffs being promoted to the top grades whilst others being put in the cellar. Also note that Jack Littlejohn is playing Rugby League for the Bulldogs in the NSW Cup.

In my humble opinion, you are correct, very classy backline - I think the half would be better after a season in colts, put Helliwell up - Toby Browne very unlucky. Forwards are losing the collision, they all have good CVs, wonder why they have yet to produce. Jack Littlejohn looks the goods and...

    Colts 2013

Think you are being a tad harsh. The Wicks dominated easts winning by 24 points. The Beasts lost to Uni the week before by 3 points. Wicks also beat the Woodies 2 weeks ago who then beat Manly next start. I agree with whoever posted the suggestion to expect further surprises.

    Colts 2013

Depth may be a problem for the Wicks. They have 5 colts in Grade, plus a hefty injury list.

Pity they have yet to play the big guns...That will sort them out.

I thought Horwitz was very good. The speed of the ball through his hands and his line running impressed me. It will be interesting for the coaches as the 2nds are running hot which must be putting pressure on the ist selections. I think the young half should be replaced with James Helliwell -...

What about the Woodies beat Manly at home? Is/were Manly joint title favourites this year? Did they have some players out? Perhaps it is that Eastwood are dark horses for the title given they just lost to Randwick the previous round. I also had the impression that Norths were red hot this year -...

    Shute Shield 2013

Some interesting results and observations so far... I saw Uni in a trial against Randwick - they had 4 or 5 Super players in and were lucky to win. I think they are looking vulnerable unless they bring back their Super 15 players - which we all know they will. Am surprised by Easts going so well...

    Shute Shield 2013

agree - TPN is great for the game and great for his club. The Wicks scrum seemed a little small or at least Parra made them look that way. Great to see the Wicks youth policy paying dividends.

Thanks to Bruce & Prodigy for the feedback. Will should make a few Super 15 forwards take notice now given the progress that he has made. I dont recall ever seeing a bigger player.

Bruce - agree - that will be a great game - was wondering how Will Skelton is progressing. I thought that he might struggle with mobility especially playing at the pace of first grade.

agree with comments about the #9 for Wests & # 6 for the wicks. The Duck is Paris Cockinos who goes well.

    Colts 2013

I did. It was a fairly even contest for the first 30 minutes. Wicks back line was slick and as always, the West Harbour forwards were big and physical. It was a match where one team tried to win through the forwards and the other through the backs. Both teams were very rusty. For West Harbour...

TIPS or Guesses at Winners ANYONE???? Methinks (or stabs in the dark) as follows- Eastwood Warringah Norths Uni Randwick Manly Sure is great to get the footy back.

    Colts 2013

Manly were playing well in the early part of that game and then got steam rolled by Randwicks big forwards and lost the game fairly and squarley. They had earlier smashed randwick in the first round. Last year Manly looked to be a young side and with a years experience and maturity will be red...

    Shute Shield 2013

From what I hear there is a solid nucleus of experience plus a few surprise players with excellent credentials from elsewhere. I expect the young blokes to play Colts and be eased up j=however that is all hearsay.
