    Rebels 2015

Sefanaia Naivalu has signed for two years with Rebels. Good to see.

Rising v Rays, 24 August @ AAMI park

I was really impressed with Naivalu. I thought Jack Debreczeni played well. Jonah Placid showed promise too. I love the change in points for penalties and conversions made for very attacking rugby. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

    Rebels 2015

I think last year it was more updates on current (ie 2013) Rebels not future (ie 2014) Rebels. Weren't they also providing updates on Ged Robinson?

    Rebels 2015

The Rebel Radar article on the Rebels website today lists where all 2015 Rebels currently are. Male Sa'u is included in the list. That is the first thing I have seen from the Rebels to suggest Sa'u will be back. I think a number of us thought he may not be back. I am glad he will be back.

    Rebels 2014

Colby Fainga'a won the players' player of the year. I was a little surprised by that. Daz Mitch got 2nd thoroughly deserved. Surprised Luke Jones was in 7th. I would have thought he was our best this year. I would have had Jones 1, Inman 2 and Ellison 3. 1 Fainga'a 2 Inman 3 Higgers 4...

    Melbourne Rising 2014

Train without a station I have enjoyed the two articles thus far.

Bulls v Rebels, 12 July @ Loftus Versfeld

The good: - Fainga'a's work at the breakdown was magnificent. - Our scrum was very good (at least until Toby went off). - Telusa Veainu looked good with ball in hand and with some space. - Jack also showed promise with ball in hand. The bad: - Jack's goalkicking. - Simple knock ons after a...

    Rebels 2015

In the article on Rebels website announcing our team it says it is the last game for Pyle, Woodward and Rokobaro. But it doesn't say anything about Foketi. Is him leaving official? Is it happening?

Bulls v Rebels, 12 July @ Loftus Versfeld

Bad news Jason Woodward can not play tonight because of a back injury. Telusa Veainu moves to full back, Alex Rokobaro on the wing and Sam Jeffries on to the bench. So the bench is 6 forwards and 2 backs. Typifies the point people have made about the balance of the squad. With the injuries in...

Bulls v Rebels, 12 July @ Loftus Versfeld

I am happy for Rokobaro to get one more run. Hopefully he gets a bit more game time than he did v Highlanders this year when he played 5 minutes.

    Melbourne Rising 2014

Very funny swingpass. I went to the Rays game and for some reason, all these years later, 2,700 sticks in my mind.

    Melbourne Rising 2014

According to an article on the Roar the Rising website will be up and running on 18 July and the Rising will be launched on 25 July. Ex-Rebel Michael Lipman is an assistant with North Harbour Rays. (Not home ground related but didn't think it was worthy of its own thread).

    Melbourne Rising 2014

Average ARC home crowds during home and away season that I calculated based on figures on Wikipedia: Perth Spirit 3,896 Canberra Vikings 3,442 Melbourne Rebels 3,305 (based on 3 matches crowd for match v Rays not included on Wikipedia) Sydney Fleet 2,658 Ballymore Tornadoes 2,434 (based on 2...

Bulls v Rebels, 12 July @ Loftus Versfeld

Question for anyone, Male Sa'u was in our starting side and then headed over to play for Japan. He comes back and is named on the bench v Reds but is replaced by Veainu. He is not in our injury list but Foketi is named ahead of him for South Africa. Now Rokobaro is named ahead of him. Has Sa'u...

Lions V Rebels, 5 July @ Ellis Park

I think the commentators said at one stage that Veainu injured his ankle during the warm up. It can't have been too bad because he still played.

Lions V Rebels, 5 July @ Ellis Park

Some injuries in both backs and forwards. Only forwards being flown over. Still no additional props sent over. No extra backs flown over is a bit of a surprise but Foketi and Meehan are already over there I suppose.

Lions V Rebels, 5 July @ Ellis Park

That was clearly Tom English's best game this season. Probably because he got more ball in this game than he had for all other games combined. Turnovers at the maul hurt us. As did Higgers' yellow, we were still in the game then and had the ball. I thought Jack look quite good tonight. Made...

    Rebels 2015

I am not happy with four wins. Basically since the Rebels started we have turned over a third of our list pretty much every year. That has done us a lot of good. So with a more stable list for 2015 I think there won't be as much starting from square one in the pre-season and hopefully that...

    Rebels 2015

One good thing about our 2015 squad is that there are 27 players from our 2014 squad, which should provide stability and reduce the learning curve in the off season. This is in stark contrast to 2014 where we had 21 players from our 2013 squad and 2013 where we had 20 players from our 2012 squad.
