    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

GPS has beaten Sunnybank and Brothers. From what I understand the side which beat Brothers was more or less a 'possibles' while the team which beat Sunnybank was a 'probables'. Quite a few new faces down there for Prems and is looking like a very strong team. I believe they will field close to...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

Geez I hate to say it but maybe Toua just isn't going to be a rugby player, at least at the Reds. I know he's a great talent but a bloke who gets injured this often is a liability both on the field and on the books for the team. For his sake I really hope things turn around though. In regards...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

Morahan is just too hot and cold this season for my liking. Everytime he has a fairly average game he does well to bounce back the following week and improve but can't seem to play well week in week out. With the backs being near fully stocked this week I think Morahan becomes expendible and...

    aus front row

Couldn't agree more. Not so much because of his scrummaging but his effort around the field is well below par IMO. I haven't taken actual statistics (I may though should he be picked as starting LHP for the Wallys) but he seems to give away an awful lot of penalties for the Tahs around the...

Most reports indicate he'll play a game over in NZ

    Specialised Coaching

Jets, out of curiousity, do you think that number of coaches is excessive for one team or are you finding it beneficial? Do all those coaches have equal input in say selections? From an outsiders point of view Sunnybank always seem a very well organised club and put some great teams on the...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

As much as I enjoy the club rugby season starting up again it does limit my Friday night game beer consumption which is a shame. I'll be hiding in the grandstand sipping on water and eating a banana.

Richard Graham to quit the Force and join the Reds

I believe I read an article last week about the Reds just getting out of their debt to the ARU two years earlier than expected or something. I guess they have some more money to play with now and decided to use it to bring in another level of coaching/leadership, at least thats what it looks...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

Yes tigerland but do you just throw both of those blokes straight back into the deep end without any game time? Especially against arguably the best team in the comp this year. Lane did enough things right that he shouldn't be considered a liability by any means and proved he can hold his own...

    Specialised Coaching

At my club the emphasis is on making the trainings interesting and having variety in drills which doesn't neccesarily mean getting coaches in to do specific skills. There are a few coaches who print off sheets and sheets of plays and technique breakdown and then go over these 'advanced' skills...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

I don't see the harm in starting Lane this Friday. He's coming off a good game, will only have become more familiar with the team during the bye week and the other two haven't played in a month. Start him at 10 with Harris at 12, Taps 13, Lucas on the bench.

Australians playing in Europe and Japan?

Nems had some discipline and weight issues after school from what i've heard. Hence why he was bouncing around several Super Rugby and even club teams for a number of years. He is no doubt a real talent and I think a few years playing overseas will give him the level head needed to make it over...

Australians playing in Europe and Japan?

There is an outside back playing for Stade Francais at the moment called Alex Rokobaro. I believe he's listed as Fijian but I know he did all his schooling in Australia, playing junior footy in Brisbane then was with the Tahs academy and Sydney Uni and also the Rebels I believe after that. Not...

Brumbies vs Rebels Rnd 8 Super Rugby 2012

Correct Ash and I think you'll see a lot more teams do it now, I would dare say its considered the normal way to set a line now. I know down at my club even the lower grades teams are adopting this style with a prop at the front of the lineout and one right at the back with jumpers all through...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

Agreed TRB, Read is one of the best going around at the moment but I wouldn't compare them as he is miles above where Shatz is. He also seems to have a bit more size about him, I for one notice his involvement frequently for the Crusaders which is more to my original point. Backrower size and...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

I understand what you're saying but my issue isn't so much with Shatz ability, I know he's a good player and i've watched him for many years playing for Sunnybank but his impact with the Reds seems to be limited and for me doesn't warrant a selection in the current team. This season especially I...

    Reds v Stormers - Super Rugby Round 9, 2012

How is he a 'liability'? Its not like he's been playing badly and making errors. If you're worried about his match fitness i'd say its probably best to start him, let him go hard and burn out and then bring on a fresh sub who can finish the game.

    The Reds run in April

Agreed, also a decent boot is handy and the ability to consistantly make tackles as the last line of defence. Both of which Harris is better at than Davies and Morahan.

    The Reds run in April

I think the success of Harris has been defined by a few key things he has done over the last two seasons rather than being consistant, which I think is obviously what you are alluding to. His double off the bench in 2011 and then his ace goal kicking to start the season this year has shown...
