    Shute Shield 2021

Not sure about that. The stakes are too high when we get to national representation for sectional interests to prevail. Usually.

    Shute Shield 2021

Gonzales, he has a bit of gas, has put some weight on. He looks to me as though he could do okay in Sevens.

    Reds 2021

    Could have been worse.

    Waratahs 2021

Foketi is a bit of a plodder, IMHO. Edmed for the bench.

    Australian Rugby / RA

League pathways start at an unconscionably young age. I know its a small sample, but I knew a kid who was already "signed up" at the age of 10. He had decided that he was going to be a pro league player. But I would be certain that a lot of kids (and their parents) are totally on board the...

SRAU RD 10 - Force v Reds Friday 23rd April HBF Park

Maybe I am wrong, but I reckon Thorn would be delighted, secretly, that they lost. The 15 that took the field was absolutely not the best 15 he could have chosen. ASY (Angus Scott-Young) at lock? One jumper against two quality and highly experienced locks? If they had won, they might have started to believe in...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Hope so. I have to say that I do suspect that watching it on 9GEM (via Foxtel) boosts ratings - I am pretty sure that Foxtel counts viewer numbers. Nothing to do with official numbers, but maybe significant to some extent.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

We watch the 9GEM coverage when the game is on there, because it is a lot more flexible. We can start watching when we feel like it, fast forward through the stoppages. I have asked STAN why we cannot do the same, they said something about needing to update their software to work on our LG set.

    Wallabies 2021

It looked to me as though Isi was really up for that game, mentally. He was really throwing himself into it. Maybe he was intent on boosting his highlights video for job applications?

    Wallabies 2021

I doubt it. They are both pretty small by international standards, 81 kgs or a bit more. Carter and Barrett, for example, are both about 90 kg. Donaldson actually looks more robust, to me. That is one of the reasons I would prefer him at the higher level, if it comes to a choice. But I...

    Take your pick.

    Wallabies 2021

Isi looked like a different player last night. It will be tragic to lose him, IMHO. At his best I reckon he is still our best #8.

    Wallabies 2021

I like what I have seen of Donaldson.

    Waratahs 2021

I would have Donaldson ahead of Harrison every day of the week, based on what I have seen of them.

    Shute Shield 2021

The game at Mudgee looked like being a blowout for a while. Pity that it ended the way that it did, not the score so much as the obvious acrimony between the teams.

SRAU RD 10 - Force v Reds Friday 23rd April HBF Park

I can understand the need for some imports, but I would prefer them to be either eligible for Australian team selection, or else retired from international duty.

SRAU RD 10 - Force v Reds Friday 23rd April HBF Park

Maybe we have more talent than we think we do, but are just not prepared or able to develop them. I was delighted when the Tahs won the comp, and I am certain that they would not have without Potgeiter. That win was good for Australian rugby, for sure. But not for long, unfortunately...

SRAU RD 10 - Force v Reds Friday 23rd April HBF Park

Well, that is one way of looking at it. The Force do have a few imports who are not Australian qualified. The others are older players who might impart some of their skills and knowhow to the young brigade. That is good, I reckon. I don't see how the Force winning that game (arguably)...

SRAU RD 10 - Force v Reds Friday 23rd April HBF Park

Can you expand your point a little? I must be a bit slow today. We need Australian qualified players to win internationals, I thought. Where am I going wrong?

SRAU RD 10 - Force v Reds Friday 23rd April HBF Park

Silly me. I am old fashioned enough to wonder what the point is in terms of developing Australian talent. If all it takes to win games is to have the deepest pockets, then we will never win, will we?
