    Shute Shield 2017

I don't think either 4's or colts 3's have PP do they? Secondly, in terms of finals,it's simple to have a rule that fresh reserves points aren't applicable if there is no lower grade fixture. No change of rule requires a club to ignore their duty of care.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2017

You are inferring that that coaches/administrators put winning games ahead of higher selections? I've coached rep teams previously, my attitude with the kids was that the aim was to get as many kids as possible into the next level. And to do that, we needed to win well, with each team member to...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2017

To whom? Every kid participating would happily choose selection at the next level to winning games/ the tournament, as would their friends and family. I couldn't tell you who won the last three or so tournaments, but I recognise the names of most that went on to higher honours. I'm not alone.

There's enough game time to ensure everyone gets 60 minutes in their preferred/selected position. Then if kids need to be moved around fine. This is a trial for the kids, not an opportunity for a coach to enhance their resume.

I agree some players are happy with that role, but most are not. I think in some limited scenarios it's fine, but generally I'm against it. and it's poor for club culture.

^^^^^the majority of players at SS level are amateurs. Most if they receive anything, receive match payments. But the advent of pro coaches has brought about this crazy environment where some pro coaches think players can be treated like Rugby is their livelihood, when it clearly isn't. Having 4...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2017

They are entitled to fair time in the position that they were selected in. This is a rep trial where they had to excel in prior trials, to be given this opportunity. For this opportunity to be taken away by a coach, who was appointed more by networking than anything else, in a decision that is...

Absolutely. When the coach brings in a stack of ring ins, invariably they don't hang around when he moves on. So after he has alienated the lower graders, this is what you end up with the following year.

You realise they were one game from the GF last year, and lost one game up till then by more than 7? And bringing in +30 yo's will not build strength for the future. They are playing Easts this week, who were always pretty strong in lower grades, and making up the numbers in 1's. They are stone...

    Waratahs 2018

The problem with a strong dependence on structure,is that it to be successful, you have to have the best cattle on the paddock. The Tahs have previously tried this approach without success. If you are relying upon former players opinions, you should note that whilst he has recruited 4 pros from...

    Waratahs 2018

it would be a fail as he took over a club where both 1's & 2's made the finals and I think 3's in the GF last year. Someone pointed out to me that there were 16 or 17 recruited players in 1' & 2's last week. Most of them in their late 20 s and too many in their 30's. He hasn't improved anyone...

if the Rats get their name on the silverware then he's done his job. Anything less and he's failed. the bookies say he's got a 1 in 6 chance of not failing. And judging by the age of his recruits, he's not building for the future.

British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

That's the beauty of sport, we can each take a different view of the same event. I hope I'm in the minority, then I'll get better odds on next weeks game :)

I think their improvement was a direct result of playing a team one man down. I believe with a full team, the AB's defence would have put more pressure on the Lions. As the AB's aren't scheduled for a red card for another 50 years, they'll win next week by 20+

Which of the current board members were instrumental in planning the infrastructure that made these wins possible? The current mob, don't get credit for other people's efforts

SBW was a very good player,I'm surprised he's still getting AB jumpers. He's probably only Wallaby standard these days. I reckon that's his last run with the ABs

^^^^yep, it appears Coleman is a less personable version of Michael Foley. Hopefully the Tahs are done with 9 man Rugby forever.

He's experienced success as a coach, something very few in Aust pro coaching ranks can boast.

    Waratahs 2018

Don't believe everything you read. He is risk averse, with very one dimensional game plans. If he can't heavily recruit for the Tahs, and demand more commitment of time and effort from the players, then he won't improve anything.

If I was uni I'd be protesting, both clubs getting a guaranteed 2 points, and not having to play a makeup game puts them at a distinct disadvantage
