    CAS Rugby 2011

I agree - the Cranbrook gear goes from the French tri-colore for the age-groups to English white for the 1sts. At least there's consistency in Lithuanian results. (and that, gentlemen, is the bitterness of a Cranbrook alumnus who never made 1sts)

    Waratahs 2012

I'm sure this has been canvassed somewhere in the 64 pages of this thread, but I'm really keen to see Alcock get an extended chance to show what he can do. He's good and combative - like Beau Robinson with his socks rolled down. Forgive the kiwi-centrism, but he reminds me of players like Chris...

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

Fair enough - I think we've reached the end of that conversation.

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

How about SBW with Nonu at 13? I realise this is a fairly well-trod line of thought, but I think the availability/potency of Carter makes a big difference to the other midfield selections. Nonu needs a play-maker at 10; SBW could play outside me and probably still generate opportunities.

RWC 2011 - Pool B - Scotland, Romania, England, Georgia, Argentina

And his tracksuit's black! How dare he!

    Springbokke vs Fiji Match thread

Is Fourie exclusively a 13? It seems like most saffa mid-fielders can play a range. It would be a shame to move Frans Steyn - less time to kick 60 metre drop goals at inside centre.

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

I agree, but aside from his long-ball (which he usually uses more in broken-play, rather than on set moves) he doesn't really instigate the plays. Just to be clear I think he's better than SBW, but from a balance perspective things would need to be reassessed.

Could the Kiwi's be losing Dan Carter?

If Carter goes out (or just plays badly) I think the ABs need SBW at inside. At his best Carter delivers the kind of running game that means you can have a hit-up merchant at 12; if he's crook, then you need to bring in a bit of extra play-making ability. Shit, this is potentially awful news...

    The most competitive RWC ever

Most of the penalties given against the main teams are for deliberate slowing tactics, or maul collapses, or other kinds of professional fouls. You don't really want a ref holding their hand through that. Conversely, the penalties given against the minnows are for things like 'failure to roll...

Media Coverage of The World Cup

I have foxtel, so I'm going alright; but my mates without it are starting to leave imprints on my couch. As a result, my particular beef is with Channel 9. With the amount of rugby being played, there was real potential to win a few converts in non-rugby areas of Australia. If there was...

    RWC - Wallabies v Italy - 11th September 2011

Pretty similar to the All Blacks performance I reckon, but with the halves swapped around. Long periods of lethargy, but ultimately too much class in the backline.

Rugby World Cup is a Joke!!

It's the second most competitive international team sporting event in the world, and the other one is competitive at a shit sport.
