Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Could not help but read one of a number of media stories put out by FFA re the appointment of their new head of the A-League. He [the new head] made a statement that was so simple it almost made me cry and should IMO be attached as a Footer to all ARU and Super Rugby outgoings in the future...

In 1998 a client expressed a desire because of a product he had of approaching sporting bodies and marketing direct to players via there governing bodies. He asked me to find the actual playing numbers in each code . My research in 1998 was we had 79K registered players, that took part in a...

Maybe I am totally wrong however I see expansion by League to 18 teams and soccer to 12 within 5 years with league having and end of season annual four nations. Aus, NZ, PNG & a PI side. The AFL I think offer now over 20 something round plus finals about 210 games and league a similar number...

^^^^^^ You seem spot on the Kiwi got it wrong on the Menia day. That does not change the structural issues he was speaking about. I also read the posts on the threat and some made for some scary reading.

Part of an article from The Roar today written by a Kiwi who feels sorry for us. Has a lot in common with this thread ... http://www.theroar.com.au/2016/07/12/kiwis-sympathy-sorry-state-aussie-rugby/#comment-5029423

Rugbynutter39 Thanks for the nice words. You and a couple of others seem to understand the urgency [if that is not too strong a word], of our position. I copped a bit and I started to repeat myself so stopped posting what I see as the starting point. Pages 9 thru to 14 I start building...

Strewth Your analysis is over simplified and at times well off the mark. International level - generally the ARU can compete $$$ wise ... Yes but rate less than league and at international level rate less than soccer Development/pre-pro level, top level guys can be retained in EPS etc, but...

TOCC You are made king for a month and you have the power to do one of the following. Would love to know your choice. As King you could- A] Ensure over the next 15 years the Wallabies remain a strong national side. B] Build and develop a new Australian only National Domestic Competition.

Working Class Rugger I acknowledged when I posted the Melbourne City vid, they had heaps of money from overseas. My point was more to look at the connections they are making and what appeared to be a first class management team. I also posted that Penrith had built a 22 million dollar...

TWAS I concede all points you have made as being correct. Trouble I have with agreeing with you is what then is the future? I want to take the emphasis you placed on the 17 year old not being either ready physically or in experience to trail against 20 to 25 year olds and you made a particular...
