With no Quade or Ben Lucas they were always going to have to bring in another 10. Good to see that both the young 10's who have stood out in Premier Grade (and Jake Mac in his U20 opportunities) have received first chance to impress. Front row is what I think a were already thinking. Pretty...

Yeah sorry that's what I meant. Aussie born, Tongan capped. He plays 6 at Leicester. It's kind of silly to say we don't need a 6, we need an 8. If your 6 is a massive bopper it works to have an 8 like Schatz. If your 6 is Quirk, an 8 like Samo gives you better balance.

Fractured ankle can mean anything from a cracked fibula to a traumatic fracture/dislocation with tearing of the syndesmosis and ankle ligaments. If it's more toward the latter end of the spectrum the ankle is more unstable and takes a more invasive operation and longer recovery time. If he just...

The Force have gone and signed Steve Mafi from Leicester. He's a Tongan born and capped, only 24 and he wants to use the sevens loophole to become wallaby eligible again. He's literally the exact sort of backrower we've been looking for and we missed him for whatever reason. I bloody hope the...

Who the hell is proposing Izzy move to defend at 10? At the reds we used Lance up front for Quade because he was a great tackler and pretty slow/average counter attacker. The tahs used Horne up front for Beale --> This is your best option probably isn't it?

Let them try, KB (Kurtley Beale) is going to have Matt To'omua on his outside and Cliff Palu on his inside. I ain't worried about our ability to put their men on the deck in the middle of the field. Plus Horne will probably defend there anyway

And I don't think Charles will be a weakness at the set piece too much. At Soup level he has always been part of reasonably good scrums and his line out throwing is better than TPN's no question.

The talk out of the AB camp has been about how they will target the wallabies scrum. I don't see it. Sure if we were going in with a fit Moore, TPN and Sio we would be looking stronger but if there is one thing I know, it's that Kepu has proven himself a good scrummager who doesn't gets the...

Coincidentally that year in 2009 when Sharpey was benched then missed the spring tour through injury and Chizz and Kev Horwill started most games and we were incredibly dominant in the scrum for the only period in my memory. Fat Cat and Benny A were the props. Food for thought. Powerful...

Mark Chisholm is genuinely massive guy. He was listed at 118kg at the brumbies but was just a big boned, rock solid mountain of muscle. When he came back to brisbane to visit family I used to see him at my local bakery/cafe and I always quietly marveled at the size of the shoulders and hands on him.

I'd be ok with McCabe playing on the wing for the badge. Similar type of player and could be useful as an option to slot in and defend at 10 for Foley (or beale) later in the game like the warpaths do. McCabe, To'omua, Kuridrani and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is fairly robust defensive set up from 1st phase. To be fair...

TBH it's just a pretty good squad based on what is available. Any team selected is going to be pretty good. Mullins versatility is a good point, probably makes him the best bench option (allows you to play a 6-2 split with ease) Does anybody from Sydney know what side Talakai prefers? Fa'agase...

What to do with Kurtley beale? He's one of the best players in Australia and one of our greatest attacking weapons but there is no obvious place to fit him in. Good problem to have but I do wish there was an obvious solution. For now it seems like he is going to need to bide his time and make...

That's probably about right to be honest with you. I'd consider Fa'agase to start (he is immensely powerful int he scrum) but that's about it.

    Wallaby Watch 2014

But when speight is available could we shift AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to 13? The man is just a marvel, but his ability to read the play in front of him and pick the correct runner to defend in the difficult 13 channel is peerless, only Conrad Smith is his equal. Plus on attack he loses some of his ability to run...
