Rebels v Cheetahs, 22 April @ AAMI Park

The Cheetahs scrum has been seriously on the improve. They were pants in the early rounds.

    Force v Waratahs, R9 2016

Its tough being a Force fan (as distinct from being a ForceFan). One season where you got close to the finals is your best historical result. Usually you are stuck supporting a team that's in the bottom four. How to get out of it? Continue to develop home-grown talent. Gee I liked the look of...

Stormers vs Waratahs Round 10 @ Newlands

For the Waratahs this game will be season-defining. Looking at the draw, they will probably lose to the Crusaders in Christchurch. To get a home final they cannot afford to lose any other game and they probably need another four bonus points (Cheetahs, Crusaders, Sunwolves and maybe Blues at...

Stormers vs Waratahs Round 10 @ Newlands

    Should that be BUNKUM?

Super Rugby Matches without a match thread

That's pretty tough on Woodward. He was running flat out, reached forward and just got the end of his fingers to the ball. What's he supposed to do? Run flatter and overrun the ball? Run faster? Grow his arms longer? It was a crap pass, end of story and they lost the game because of it. None...

Super Rugby Matches without a match thread

You really need to excommunicate members of your family who send out invites without first consulting the Super schedule!

Super Rugby Matches without a match thread

I have seen Rasivhenge a number of times at sevens tournaments and was quite impressed. Saw him a couple of weeks ago, can't recall which game, and I was throwing things at the TV it was so bad. Anyone else seen him ref 15's and have a comment?

    Force v Waratahs, R9 2016

Desperate times for desperate teams. Is Lance back? Is TPN back? The Force are the Tahs bogey team, mainly because they turn the breakdown into a shitfight and slow down delivery to the Tahs backline - ergo, no go forward.

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

There's a whole branch of statistics on outlier results and whether they should be considered or discarded.
  10. Hawko

Rebels v Cheetahs, 22 April @ AAMI Park

You've got a good draw when you play the Sunwolves twice. Some teams don't even get one go.
  11. Hawko

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

But that's the whole point. He did it under penalty advantage, which means if he missed they would have been able to have another go or kick to the corner and rumble.
  12. Hawko

Stormers vs Reds @ Newlands round 9

Just hoping that the Reds do a beat-up job on the Stormers and get a win. That would mean that the Stormers would go into the Tahs game coming off two straight losses and a lot of psychological baggage.

Auckland Blues To Infinity and Beyond

Rene Ranger has done his AC. Out for the season. Is this the end for Blues hopes or the best thing that could have happened? Discuss.

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

As I posted a couple of pages back I would not have put Foley at 13 till the Force game because it was too big a step for Kellaway to debut start against the best Australian team. And after twenty minutes all I could say was "I told you so". But the boy has talent and certainly got better as the...

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

Yeah but we don't play on the high veldt this year. Stormers is our only SA game in Cape Town.

    HSBC Women's Sevens Rd. 4 - Canada

Disaster! Lost our first game in forever and it had to be to the soap dodgers. :(
  17. Hawko

    Reds v Bulls. R8 2016

The scary thing is that this is not a great Bulls team. On another thread someone said Brumbies mid-table, Tahs, Reds, Force and Rebels bottom feeders. I am confident the Aussie teams can beat the Kings, Cheetahs and Sunwolves only, the rest have got our measure.

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

If we ignore the two or three second wrestling that goes on between the player going to ground and the tackler rolling away.
  19. Hawko

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

This is the second game in a row where the Tahs have had a chance to win after the whistle and have cocked it up by dropping the pill. That probably comes down to a lack of self-belief - the confidence in themselves that good teams have that means they continue to execute when under fatigue and...

    Waratahs v Brumbies - Round 8, 2016

Except that he again allowed the Brumbies tacklers to continue to play after the tackler had gone to ground. Rolling away now only happens occasionally and long after the runner is grounded. The Brumby technique is to have the tackler continue to work on the ball holder to prevent a quick...
