    Reds v Brumbies - Take 1

Funny - I thought the complete opposite.

    Reds v Brumbies - Take 1

Yeah - we were bad under the high ball which is frustrating. Petaia and O’Connor both dropped kicks and are normally good in the air. Our line out has been an Achilles heel for years. I know we have a number of injured locks out and Brumbies line out is a real strength, but we had Smith, Uru...

    Reds v Brumbies - Take 1

Agree Adam and I don’t think anyone could argue that officiating influenced the outcome too much. Both teams got away with a bit and I’d guess that was because both teams worked out early the ref was going to let the game flow. It doesn’t always work - sometimes the ref giving too much latitude...

    SR2023 R3 - Rebels vs Waratahs Friday 10 March @ 7.35pm

Nah - you’re just a bit of a grump. I do think it wouldn’t hurt you to make the odd positive comment but you’re here and you’re a rugby fan and this is a rugby forum so post what you like I guess. I am tempted to keep calling you Eeyore though. :)

    SR2023 R3 - Rebels vs Waratahs Friday 10 March @ 7.35pm

They can’t leave their feet and dive on him. But they can make contact which means, at that point he has one dynamic movement. If no one does that and the original contact isn’t deemed a tackle he can crawl, roll or do the worm down the field if he is so inclined to my understanding of the...

But that’s only illegal if he’s tackles. Ironically the same thing just happened in the Blues game. Absolutely no mention of it being an issue.

    SR2023 R3 - Rebels vs Waratahs Friday 10 March @ 7.35pm

I don’t understand why that wasn’t a try. He didn’t appear to be held or tackled under the rules, so what difference is it that he used his knees. Or was he ruled as being tackled?

The Rebels player jumped into him. As far as I understand there is no sanction when that happens. IMO Hooper has generally been very good since his return. But he wasn’t yesterday and looked very tired.

    SR2023 R3 - Rebels vs Waratahs Friday 10 March @ 7.35pm

Gordon still has plenty of development to do - which is to be expected from a 10 his age. But he has been far better in the first couple of rounds the either Edmed or Donaldson. Jones doesn’t have any well established young 10s to select (Lolesio would be closest) so he’s definitely a Wallaby...

Let’s hope so. Pretty solid game and the poor bugger deserves some luck.

Agree. Good game to watch - from my couch at least. Agree with Reg Ili superb. Gordon rightly getting plenty of praise but I thought it was Ili that sparked a lot of the key attack. I thought the whole Rebels backline were sharp. Rebels need to play for 80 minutes. If they do that they’ll be a...

    Aussie Player Exodus

Is that any different to lots of others who try one career - get part way through uni or an apprenticeship and then, for a variety of reasons, change career paths? If they’ve only been a pro athlete for 5 yrs they do still have plenty of time to do other things.

Agree. I don’t for a second begrudge pro sports people their pay cheques. Their commitment and skill is above most of us and the generate the dollars so they should get the spoils. But very few people get to earn such large pay cheques so early in life and with even a small amount of control...

I can’t see anyone moving a super level prop to number 8. Maybe if they cut the bench numbers back to 5.

    Wallabies 2023

I have plugged for Frost a few times at 6, but I’ve flipped. It’s been some time since we’ve had a lock with his potential and locks are so important. There are plenty of worthy contenders at 6. I was also very iffy about Gleeson being talked up too much - but he’s been very good first two...

    Reds v Brumbies - Take 1

Van Nek was very good last week I thought and Schoup great the week before. But AAA does a massive amount of little things right. It will be a big plus for the Reds if AAA isn’t available- although I feel for the bloke with the number of recent concussions.
