Why would you kick posession of the ball away 'tactically' if you are beating the first defender on the counter more often then not. he has shown for tahs and wallabies that he can kick out of trouble.

Think the issue is that his best position is fullback where he is no 2 in the country. Mowen has played his last test. I believe you should pick your bench based on who could enter the game and make the most impact. Hooper can break a game open with his running game, particular as opposition legs get heavy in and around the fringes.
