Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Last of the pool games today with the placing games and final on Sunday. Game 1 Vic v ACT Final score Vic 20 ACT 5 This has put Vic into the third/fourth place game and ACT into the 7th/8th place playoof. A good result for Vic and shows some progress in their rugby programme. However...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

To answer some of the questions asked. I haven't noticed that young chap Gregg for CS. I'm sure he has had a run at some stage and I will try and take notice of his game today if he gets on. Gutherson has been ok - not outstanding but hasn't done anything wrong. he is playing in a strong...

Both have justified their selection without being standouts in their games.

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

pat kennedy was the best forward on the ground in the first half against ACt yesterday before he was replaced at half time. I expect him to get a full game on Friday against QLD 1 with Walters possibly playing at 8

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Wells played 8 last year for Aust Schools. Dempsey has been going well. He has been active and defending well. he has also threatened with the ball a couple of times. He is, like a number of the younger NSW players, learning from their experience this year of what it takes to play at this...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Satui may have been there last year and this year but the crop of No.7's at this tournament is exceptional. In an earlier post I rated him as no. 4 with the others showing more vigour and higher workrate in their games. The other problem I have with him is his size. He is very light and I can't...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

I think Gordon Broome would be an exceptional 7's player. He has pace and aggression and goes like the energiser bunny on acid around the field (looks like one too). On the 7's front did hear that Fabian Natoli the NSW 2's bench half has been added to the junior 7's squad.

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Tom Cusack is not playing. The ACT side has been outclassed in their first two games but they have never given up and played as hard as they can until the final whistle. The two players that I have been impressed with are the 13 Andrew Robinson and the 11 Jordan Read. Robinson is a solid...

Please explain spewn also what have been your observations over the first two games of this championship? Why do you consider these players as inferior players. Who do you consider better?

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

7's Broome, Hardwick, baldwin,Satui 8's Timu/Wells (different styles of playing both doing well), Maka, Tasi Due to the fact bthat there are no standout 6's around and based on my observations over the past 2 days my OZ Schools back 5 would be 4 Browning 5 Dombkins 6 Timu 7 Broome 8 Wells

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

I wouldn't say there were lots of injuries as such. Baldwin was the worst with his ankle again and Mitch Whiteley looked like he dislocated his elbow but the physio put that back in and he came off to rest. Wells got a knock on the head and was taken off as a precaution. Dombkins got a slight...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

Well Day 2 has been competed and I saw 3 and half good games today NSW 2 v ACT This was a good win for NSW 2 over a game ACT. The first 15 mins did not look good for NSw 2 as it was played within 30 meters of the NSW line. Too many poor options and mistakes made sure ACt could put some...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

The games on Monday were all good games. NSW 2 were definitely outmuscled by the Vics. They attempted to play an open game but all to often the play broke down and Vic were able to control the breakdowns and gain turnovers. Definitely inexperience at this level told and these boys would have...

Australian Schoolboys and National Championships 2011

To all interested parties the Championships are split into two groups - NSW 1, Combined States, WA and Qld 2; NSW 2, Vic, ACT and Qld 1. The team play within their group over the first three days e.g. NSW 1 played WA on Monday, Combined States on Wed and QLD 2 on Friday. The finals on Sunday see...

BWF An even better example of the GPS selection process is the case of Max Jones from Kings. Originally selected as a bench player for GPS III's then on the bench for GPS II's in the second game. He has now been selected on the bench for NSW II's. He also is not in any ARU program.
