'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

How could I ever forget, RH? In matters of crafting lead balloon announcements the ARU concedes to no one. They set the bar so low with that one that it would indeed be a challenge for them to come up with something even more banal. But I for one would never underestimate their collective...

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

Hopefully they will confirm that it does have a future rather than an announcement that they're turning off the life support. It may well be a good sign. I cannot recall any previous occasion where the ARU has given any attention to this matter.

    Mad Robbie

I don't necessarily disagree with these comments and hope that they indicate that the perceived problems with S & C have been addressed. I certainly hope so as our physical reserves are about to be comprehensively tested. The Samoan Test would have reminded the likes of Ireland and England...

    Mad Robbie

Amidst all the rejoicing, backslapping and "Robbie for Pope" campaigning it falls to me, the forum's resident Jeremiah, to sound a cautionary note. We still have a problem playing out 80 minutes. Let's recap our second half scores against the Kiwis in the Deans era: 26 Jul 08, 17-7, margin...

    Aussie Baa Baa's Vs Canada

Isn't it a pleasure to watch a game where there's no blaring PA during the half time interval? Spectators are actually able to talk to one another.

Tactics for the Trinations Final in Brisbane

    Another one for the Anthology.

    Tri Nations Game 6 - Wallabies vs All Blacks - Saturday 27 August 2011 - 3N2011

I agree with you, Scotty, that there now seems to be a greater emphasis on muscular Christianity, i.e., aggression and grunt, in our team selection. We certainly need it given the task at hand.

    Tri Nations Game 6 - Wallabies vs All Blacks - Saturday 27 August 2011 - 3N2011

Your mail may be more up to date than mine, Scotty. Has our training methodology been refocussed?

Tactics for the Trinations Final in Brisbane

I seem to recall Anthony doing this in his first Test against the All Blacks. Rushing out of the line isn't necessarily smart football at Test level.

    Aussie Baa Baa's Vs Canada

It could well be said of a lot of us.

    Sydney Colts 2011

http://www.nswrugby.com.au/NSWRugby/TooheysNewShuteShield/DrawsResults/2ndGradeColtsLadder.aspx Uni's average is 42 points for to 6 against.

    Rebels 2012

That one went through to the keeper without me raising the bat, lily.

    Waratahs 2012

My read on Dean is that all he needs is to be freshened up. He's still a young bloke and missing the cut for the World Cup could work to his long term benefit.

    Rebels 2012

He has certainly come back from his second knee reconstruction in great form, lily. This is particularly impressive given that he is working long shifts at a hospital leaving very limited time for training.

    Rebels 2012

There is zero chance, lily, that Nathan Trist will play professional rugby. He is in the final years of a Medicine degree which effectively rules out anything other than club rugby where he is more than useful.

    Tri Nations Game 6 - Wallabies vs All Blacks - Saturday 27 August 2011 - 3N2011

Chris Hickey has been quoted as holding a similar opinion. Mind if I ask why the No. 8 shouldn't be expected to contribute to the overall objective of driving the scrum forward?

ABCTV Shute Shield Coverage - The Sleeping Pill

I think that NSW Rugby pays the ABC to have the Shute Shield televised. With the huge support for rugby in Queensland now the QRU should try to do the same.

ABCTV Shute Shield Coverage - The Sleeping Pill

    Very probably.

Giteau must be in Wallabies World Cup squad

Always Red of NQ stresses the point that "I never took this to the media". Six years later he can no longer hold back.

    Waratahs 2012

Brilliant! Absolutely breath-taking in its simplicity. A wonderful example of the application of Occam’s Razor. As we all know the 14th century logician and Franciscan friar William of Ockham famously observed: "Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate", or in the vulgar tongue: "Entities...
