It's probably also worth pointing out that the Tahs gave RA the keys under the guise of the centralisation program, not because they'd gone into VA. It's apples and oranges, for many, many reasons.

Well if not for RA fronting up for catering, the Rebels might be scampering around to find a school willing to host them for Friday. Not a bad immediate first step in sorting out the mess. But if the debt isn't manageable, then do? And expect them to take it on no questions asked?

This. I'm always a bit perplexed by those who suggest the Vic Govt are big supporters of rugby, moreso than other states, due to their willingness to fork out for Wallabies tests and Super Round - they aren't; they are (understandably) supporters of big live events which generate tourism income.

Sure, I agree, but I repeat - they accrued $15m+ debt unchecked. Even if the promised / assumed money from RA came through, they are still in very deep. That is the part which is astounding and screams mismanagement.

Valid, but (and I edited my post to reflect this) it should never have come to this - that's the part which is poor management. Brums' debts are to RA (and minimal, really), and Tahs' are also comparatively small and now being dealt with.

Mate, I know this is a tough time, but there's no two ways about it - the vast majority of the Rebels' debt is purely due to mismanagement. You don't accidentally and unknowingly rack up $15m+ in debt

I'm not sure why people are viewing the 4mo contracts as a death knell - it would be extremely unusual to offer anything longer given the circumstances and level of uncertainty
