Round 4 : Rebels v Reds. Friday Night (Melbourne)

You’d hate to be a commentator trying to distinguish Tate and HMP in broken play. Could be twins

Will the score or crowd be a higher number? (hoping for a contest though)

Having it kick off after confusing him with Xzibit is just pure gold

    Queensland Reds 2024

Yep, but - and I don't want to jinx it so I'm whispering this - early signs suggest this could be one of the closest Super seasons in not-so-recent memory, which would do wonders for fan engagement and the product as whole. Time will tell, but (Rebels drama aside) it's oh so nice to start a...

    Queensland Reds 2024

No doubt - the Roar article mentioned Schmidt doesn't want to start talking contracts until end of the month at the earliest, so it doesn't sound like any offers have been tabled yet. The uncertainty wouldn't be nice of course, but hopefully that means none of the players have closed the door yet.

    Queensland Reds 2024

You'd have to think the feeling that something special could be brewing at the Reds might've come at the right time to keep some of the names mentioned from departing. Hopefully all the AU teams keep up the, by and large, improved competitiveness that we've seen so far this season. Might work in...

    I reckon Lynagh's got a post-try backflip in him

We're upgrading to the Metro (which is definitely not just a bigger banana bus) thank you very much

Maybe it's utilised more, but nah, that technique has been around forever - you can only get so low, eventually you have to find another way.

Yeah watching it again it's probably a fair call. Sef's positioning was poor and ran the risk of shoulder-to-head even if the ballcarrier hadn't changed his line

It was late enough and with a high enough level of force to warrant a yellow imo - replays showed Finau hadn't committed until after the ball was passed. The wrap was borderline but agree that he did just enough.

    Queensland Reds 2024

Fair enough - I'd have to go watch it again. Without getting too much into it, and noting it's not apples to apples, this decision and the contrast to the Lynagh late hit pose some questions about the dangerous tackle framework.

Fuck me - so they believe it met the red card threshold? Seems harsh from what I recall of the body heights

It's a positive that he (and Schmidt) are out doing the rounds regardless - and not producing abrasive, combative headlines and soundbites while they're at it.

Australian Club Championship - Brothers v Randwick

Les Kiss on the KOKO show said at least 2 more weeks for JOC (James O'Connor), so doesn't seem a chance

Drew really is on it when he wants to be. Not always the best at live commentary, but his analysis is usually pretty spot on. It's a shame he and Stan fell out.
