Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Also with what Half has said, in my kids schools in Regional NSW I saw the CRL, Netball, Auskick/AFL and Soccer development officers multiple times in small country schools in the times my kids were there. No once did we see or even hear about the Rugby development program and I actually asked.

Round 5: Brumbies v Highlanders, Sat 25 March, 7:45pm AEDT - GIO Stadium

FFS this is the best "scintillating attack" that the Australian backs coach can come up with? Pass it to static forwards all night when in the opposition 22 and driving maul and more mauls. Want to look at why Australian Rugby no longer rates watch the Brumbies kick and maul games, the Rebels...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

    1) Because when the rebuild does kick off we'd ideally not like to goes down this path again. 2) The previous regimes installed the current through appointments directors, Chairs and CEOs. They ensured that their "programmes" had continuity by ensuring that no dissenting voices were selected...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Its not that hard to gain some influence. Offer resources and assistance for a "price", that being the influence. When their competition is taking up the "offer" they will eagerly accept to maintain the level playing field. The problem is the lack of interest and genuine long term planning...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think you'd need to have a look at the economic situation in the WI at that time.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

If you have want to have a rant at least try and make it factual. 1991 side had:- Kearns, McKenzie, Poidevin, Campese from Randwick. 4/15. Which of them would you have dropped? Cheika has that same ideology obviously since I can't remember the last time I saw a first choice Wallaby play club...

Do they count other "rowing type sports" like Dragon boat etc?

    Waratahs 2017

I have also wondered that many times, I also wonder about the level of critique from their peers and coaches about technical flaws before they do those extras. Doesn't matter shit how much time you spend practicing something if you technique is crap and uncorrected.

I agree totally, but what changes can you make now that will really make a material difference. The time to change was 5 years ago at the latest. Now all it is just a moving of the deck chairs after the Titanic has hit the iceberg. The ship is going down, I'd say enjoy the ride but the band is...

You and others have been pushing the same barrow for years when I and other have been talking about these things. Now that most of what we predicted has come to pass you still hold to the same line slightly altered. I talk about the systems and their genesis and you post about it being years...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

John is too busy trying to find out which carpark the next CEO/board search is going to be in and which one he wants to be in Reds or ARU.... Zero faith in any of them, being longest serving is a detraction if anything.

I am actually unless you think that people at the same level shouldn't be able to at least land somewhere in the same ball park in terms of core skills. I do actually think that many Club level players would and do actually have better core skills than their Australian "pro" counter parts...

    Waratahs 2017

Maybe also the fact that the players pass the ball continuously at that get together called training. If the line speed thing was so huge a factor why can the NZ sides pull off this marvellous thing called passing, under pressure, in the rain, under water........ I do not accept their...

Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

Because the development of our players no matter how innately skilled is just broken. We have professional players that cannot pass a ball. We have a first choice 15 that cannot kick effectively. We have 9's that cannot pass and are so slow in executing a kick from the base that a fat mid 40's...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

It hasn't been for Australian Sides for a long time apart from 2014 for the Tahs and the period in the sun for Qld 2010-2011. Apart from that it was along way back to the Brumbies playing attractive marketable Rugby. The Tahs are the best example that winning and making the finals by...

    Waratahs 2017

How about they forget doing any "drills" or set play practice runs or gym work and just learn how to catch the ball and pass the ball IN FRONT of players. They can start with the players standing still they MAY be able to execute, then at a walk and then maybe a job, though we don't want to push...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I think I'd actually support the dumping of the lot of them. All season so far we have had 30 minutes of good rugby from an Australian side, the Reds v the Crusaders. Last year around this stage it was about the same with the Brumbies v the Canes if I remember rightly in the first round. The...
