    Shute Shield 2011

I've always found it interesting that they were both cops at the time.

    Shute Shield 2011

En force er Gourley played for the Wallabies in the late 80's before defecting to league. He finished his football career with the Marlins lower grades. He will be 43 in this year so I doubt he will be a regular contributor. He was awesome against the Lions in 89 before he switched to St George.

    Shute Shield 2011

Jacob Woodhouse to Manly. Surprising as they already have BJ Hartmann and possibly Damien Reti who is a great runner of the ball.

    Western Force 2011

Swanapoel was terrible for the Marlins last year at 10. His first game suggested otherwise but then he slipped into mediocrity. I am aware that he replaced Seymour at 10 when primarily he is a 9.

    Brumby Runner Trials

Can anyone list the academy players. Their website developer doesn't think it is a priority.

    Shute Shield 2011

He as was the other players in my last 2 posts pushed into a pro situation way too early. Remember in 2008 Alcock was a Gordon colt and in 2009 a second grader. From here he was thrusted into a Super 14 team. Now he's gone. Imagine that discarded at 22. The Tahds should maybe have waited till he...

    Shute Shield 2011

Going off on a tangent here. The best schoolboy backrower in the last 5 years I have seen is Ben Coridis. Why did the Waratahs get rid of this guy? i know he was injury prone but he was drafted into the squad at Robinsons expense only to then fall behind Chris Alcock - who again was tossed in...

    Shute Shield 2011

I was at Oxford Falls for the CHS vs ISA game in 2008. Talking to a few guys that I knew from the CHS set up, they were confident of a good day. Unfortunately for them the ISA teams forward pack included - Salesi Manu, Sam Roberson, Vaughan Lomax, Luke Jones( or was he in seconds that day)...

    Shute Shield 2011

I wonder what walking Lloyd is doing these days.

    Shute Shield 2011

Didn't he play league for Parramatta in the early 80's?

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Can someone post the Tongan team so we can have some perspective. With the Aviva Premiership, Magners League, European Challenge Cup and the Heineken Cup I would suggest that the ongan team would be made up of players lucky to make their 3rd team.

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

Eddie Aholelei is one of the guys in white. Angus Hamilton played Aust schools a couple of years ago.

    Waratahs 2011

Took my son for a surf at Freshie this arvo. As I was leaving Tatafu passed me carrying a stand up paddleboard. The man looked good to go.

    Shute Shield 2011

The Manly Daily has suggested that the Marlins have been talking to a few players from other clubs recently. Ed Gower is a name mentioned.

I think Slim hit the nail on the head.

    Melbourne Rebels 2011

The mighty Temora Tuskers play against the division 1 teams. All teams play against each other and then the season is split - think Shute Shield, Tooheys New Cup. Young also had Tim Davidson play in a few games this year.

Nick was also at Manly briefly last year. Couldn't get a start in front of Elvis.

    Brumbies 2011

Jack and Lala would have done better. Lala was awesome in last years Shute Shield for Randwick.

    Shute Shield 2011

Luke Tabutoa played OZ schools and is a former 2blue 1st grader. Fakafanua was a commentators dream during the Shute Shield season. The boys were in all sorts pronouncing his name. Lee once again a chicken vs egg moment. Did Uni create an environment that attracts the best of the best, or was an...

    Aussie 7s - a new journey.

I should be clearer. There doesn't seem to be a pathway for anyone who hasn't been picked up by a Super 14 team after Under 20s selection. They seem to be discarded and no matter how well they play in club rugby they are doomed to never be picked. Phipps is a good player and now is a worthwhile...
