Thanks for the input, kind of shows how specialized 7s is these days. I obviously pictured Toole as a winger, but I wasn’t sure where they’d play O’D. Would it be hard for Toole to juggle Super Rugby and the 7s?

I could see O’Donnell making more of a fist of 15s than Toole. Not sure his position before playing 7s, just seems a wider skill set than being really, really fast and elusive. That being said, I hope they both succeed. and I wouldn’t mind seeing Roche and Paterson have a go at 15s.

Not well enough obviously, otherwise it wouldn’t be a go to tactic for every team every few minutes. And it only arbitrarily get called. It’s more the contradiction in the laws that gives teams more chance to ruin the spectacle within the laws.

It annoys me that we can have a form of obstruction at the rolling maul but players cannot be seen to obstruct chasers on box kicks/mid field bombs. If officials turned a blind eye to all but the really obvious obstructions to protect the catcher, we’d see less contestable kicks and hopefully...

Great thoughts on how to improve the laws. It’s bullshit the attacking side gets three goes before using it. What inevitably happens is on the second or third go a defender infringes, then it’s a penalty, kick to corner, lineout, maul, until there’s a try or another penalty or card or whatever...

They could go with what they do in State of Origin weeks in league. Have some byes and other teams test their depth. It’s not ideal, but the problem with Super Rugby when SA was involved is there could be 3-4 weeks between home games, which meant people found something else in the break between home games.
