    Waratahs v Highlanders, semi-final, Saturday 27 June

Osbourne's penalty try was off a cut out, and the chips across field that resulted in two tries were basically cutouts.

Junior Laloifi is a little small for Super Rugby. Had a chance with a few starts in the NRC but made little impact. Made huge impact off the bench though against tiring teams, including that cracker of a try in the final. He also scored a few nice tries late earlier games in the season. I...

    Waratahs v Highlanders, semi-final, Saturday 27 June

Oh, and congrats Highlanders. By far the better team on the night, and the second best team in the regular season. There's been a few games recently where the Tahs have been hammered on possession, but the Highlanders have been the best at having the right game plan and the dangerous players...

If your lineout is average, there's no reason for a team to do anything else than kick to the sideline all the time. The Highlanders did it and rode the wave in the second half. Completely killed any momentum the Tahs could get.

Too easy, A. Smith to Osbourne try.

Another lineout stolen. Kearns uses the term "ours". Droppie over, 13 point gap.

Phipps off for McKibbin. Phipps has been way too wayward this game. Dennis off for Chapman. Don't think either of those changes will win the game for the Tahs. Don't get Kearns' whining, the Highlanders have just been better in the second half.

Interesting that the Clan have done their homework - high kicks to Folau are not contested, but they wait for him to hit the ground and go in for the tackle. To Foley they are contested every time. Smart play.

Tahs throwing it around like madmen now. No composure. Tahs forwards just haven't gotten the expected dominance in general play. Foley has been disappointing, ignoring the errors there's been little direction.

I reckon he had the ball held incorrectly, that's why he didn't score. If he had it in one hand reaching out to place it he either scores, or drops it cause of the swinging arm (then definite penalty try).

Kearns has been horrible all night. Palu off, Hoiles on. Very different player, that will take a lot of starch out of the Tahs, but bring someone extra chasing that ball hard. That shakey lineout is not good for the Tahs as Foley drops another high kick.

How do the Tahs come back from here? Entire second half they've been all over the shop. Need to settle and get their forwards rolling. That's where the big advantage is I think.

10 points up, man in the bin, I reckon the Clan should have kicked that penalty to the corner.

Well, that's end of the Tahs luck with the ref, bit of a harsh call for the penalty try, but can't agree on the yellow card.

Wow that's a hard call at the moment. Very hard to award a penalty try as Osbourne had his arms in the wrong spot. If he had reached out he definitely would have scored.

How could he not score that?

Betham on for Carraro, so Horne must be to 12.

Naholo with another huge effort, even after eating a boot in the face.

    Waratahs v Highlanders, semi-final, Saturday 27 June

If Naholo took off after he kicked it, I reckon he would have made it without a doubt. Instead he hesitated......but got there anyway! Holy crap!!

That is a weird call from Joubert. He's either offside, or onside. Diving to tackle the halfback after he's taken a step is fine, if he's onside.
