    Live Calling of the RWC?

My understanding is that in Canada, and i would assume the U.S, they have just bought the coverage straight off either the aussie or english networks. It's not worth it for the networks to send a full team down there to cover the games. did you watch the canada u.s game in denver...

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

Agree. who wants to have to sit on a train, for realistically more like 25 minutes from the last time I was there, to get to anything half decent? not me.

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

the trams and trains are a big help with AAMI. you don't have to walk more than 200m to get to a tram stop. you can be on swan street getting your whistle wet in no time. I am biased though as I absolutely love that stadium for rugby.

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

if i said they didn't deserve any more tests i apologise as that's not what i meant. I meant with the bigger tests (wales, ireland, england etc). agree they should get the smaller tests against the minnow nations. if you want a drink at the game, you can't drive. taxis were extremely hard...

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

hardly sensationalist. there was an absolute mass of people walking back along the highway till they could get a taxi. it was cold. The bars in the stadium shut early. there was nowhere nearby to go afterwards its like a smaller version of homebush, without the trains. I took a friend who...

Potential upsets at this years WC - year of the minnow?

agree. they've come on in leaps and bounds lately. the magners league inclusion will only work further wonders for them.

Potential upsets at this years WC - year of the minnow?

italy only joined only 11 years ago. so let's hope it doesn't take 20. I remember there was a lot of discussion in the late 90's about whether it would be Canada who joined what was then the five nations. The plan was for European rugby leagues to allow canadians to play freely. Ultimately...

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

I was at the Fiji test. It was a pretty bad crowd (15,000) and a pretty quiet one too. There was basically nothing put on. it was a case of rock up, take your seat, watch in silence and then leave. Getting back from the Stadium after the game was a lot of fun. Impossible to get taxis. No...

Potential upsets at this years WC - year of the minnow?

^ Agree. I think they'll bid au revoir in the quarters against england, but of course we never know. I will counter my above comment with immense bias and suggest that france will play their full strength team against japan, to give the players a run around and then rest much of their 1st XV...

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

Agree re the stadium agreement. Docklands is basically an AFL venue only now with the Heart, Victory, Storm and Rebels all playing out of AAMI, so what was the point in capping the size of AAMI. then they shot themselves in the foot with a stadium which can only be expanded for big big bucks...

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

my apologies, i read the following statement incorrectly: “Now we can confirm that from next year the Wallabies will have two homes in Sydney,” said Mr O’Neill. I thought it said "...two home games in sydney" Aside form a bledisloe game, the MCG wouldn't come close to selling out for anyone...

    2011 World XV

I haven't seen all of ioane's trys, but on the wing they always seem to come with a fair chunk of room to move. often in a two on one or from him running a great line off another player. I tend to see Shane scoring out of tigher situations, jinking through a couple of players and then taking off.

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

it says that Sydney will get two tests a year starting next year. presumably, one being the bledisloe and one being ths SFS test. I'd say melbourne and perth will each get one a year. Canberra will receive one off smaller matches at best. I was at their last test, fiji v aus, and it was...

a test a year? or all tests?

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

I question that. I would think Ireland and England would pull large crowds but noting the last time ireland played in melbourne they just pulled 40,000 (back in 2008) i'm not sure Wales and Scotland would be up at that mark by any means. i'd think they'd draw somewhere between italy (large...

'Future of Rugby' Announcement in Sydney today

company i work for has an ownershp position in etihad, so i'll query with the correct gents if they are in discussions for hosting the game. Perhaps then it is a welsh test at the SFS. Would be great if they did the other welsh game in perth at NIB or whatever its called over there. I...
