    Wallabies Tests 2012

During the 2011 season, I found the Super Rugby E-diary pretty handy as it updated the calendar on Outlook for the Super Rugby games. It would be even more useful, if it could be further tailored to include events for the team you support. Hopefully, it will be available again in 2012. Here's...

    Wallabies Tests 2012

Since Wales are here for a three Test series, it would be great to see a couple of mid-week games against Super Rugby teams or other representative sides to make it a traditional tour.

    Gits :-(

Giteau took to Twitter to have a go at Robbie Deans. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/sport/matt-giteaus-twitter-swipe-at-wallabies-coach-robbie-deans/story-e6frg7o6-1226169141798

    So where to from here?

As much as we would like to see the Wallabies develop, I get the feeling nothing much will change until a new Wallabies head coach is appointed in 2013. Having said that, it would not surprise if the powers that be at the ARU re-appoint Robbie Deans for RWC 2015.

3rd Place Play Off - Wallabies v Wales.

The Wallabies are scheduled to play Wales on 3 December 2011 in Cardiff.

Russia to Bid for 2023 World Cup

It would be brilliant for Russia or any other country which hasn't hosted the RWC to do so. Argentina, Italy or USA/Canada would also be good for the development of rugby. By 2023, the RWC should be more competitive than ever.

Will you still be interested in a RWC final without the Men in Gold (or your team)?

If the Wallabies lose on Sunday, I would still be interested in the final. Will the ABs get the monkey off their back or will a new team be etched on Bill? I would opt for the latter for the good of international rugby. Here's hoping we don't need to cross that bridge and the Wallabies make it...

Preaching to the converted. RWC impact on the Non Converted

There seems to be more coverage of the Wallabies this week in the commercial TV network news. Whether this continues depends on how the Wallabies go this weekend. It also helps that the NRL and AFL have finished their seasons so they need to fill their minutes.

    Ch9 RWC coverage

Based on their RWC programming in general, the lunatics are running the asylum at Nine. Some other TV guides list the telecast finishing at 8:40pm. As the actual game starts at 7pm AEDST (9pm in NZ), it will be a struggle to finish by then. What happens if there is extra time? It wouldn't be...

    Ch9 RWC coverage

Just when you think Nine can't go any lower with its treatment of the RWC...they pull another one out of the bag.

    RWC QF2: England v France (W Pool B v RU Pool A)

France usually have one big game in a RWC, so this was probably the one. Vive le France!

    Rugby Jerseys and Merch Deals

Anyone looking for 2011 RWC jerseys could check out Lovell Rugby in the UK as they have started discounting their stocks of 2011 RWC jerseys. Various RWC team jerseys have been reduced to GBP29.99 or GBP24.99 (excl VAT) if sent outside of UK. The postage is GBP10 for the first item and GBP5...

    Rugby World Cup Live Sites

The live site is sponsored by DHL which is "the official logistic partner of the RWC 2011". So the ARU may not be aware of it as it is not an ARU sponsor. At this stage, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of promotions for it. I found out about it when I walked by Darling Harbour this week.

    Rugby World Cup Live Sites

There is a live site in Sydney at Harbourside, on the western side of Darling Harbour. There are three floating screens showing the games live.

    Farewell the wallabies 5-9-11

I didn't say pollies shouldn't be there...just that they didn't need to make a speech.

    Farewell the wallabies 5-9-11

Speech from John O'Neill on behalf of ARU and interviews with Deans and Big Kev would have been sufficient. No need for the pollies to speak at all. It would have also given more time for the fans to meet the team as there were some people turned away from the "meet and greet" queues.

    Ch9 RWC coverage

Not expecting blanket coverage of the RWC at all. Well aware that if I want that I can subscribe to pay TV. However, the RWC appears to be an after thought for them, eg it's less than a week away and 9 hasn't got a broadcast schedule up on its website.
