RWC 2015 Semi Final 2 - Australia v Argentina Twickenham, Monday 19 October, 2:45 AEDT

I'm not too worried about our scrum. The Argentine scrum has been solid in this tournament but at times it's been put under pressure by both Georgia and Ireland. Our scrum is good, it'll be solid. Though I do note that Juan Figallo has been called back into Argentina's squad (he missed out...

RWC 2015 Semi Final 2 - Australia v Argentina Twickenham, Monday 19 October, 2:45 AEDT

Definitely wasn't a ruck. Kepu was the tackler, and was off his feet. It's the definition of a tackle situation. I think Horne was fine. He entered the tackle area from behind the ball, kept one foot behind the ball at all times, then picked it up from underneath him when he realised the...

If the Wallabies got thrashed then maybe, but I think it's very unlikely given the rules. A competitive loss would do no harm and people would recognise it's a different game. Personally I think the Wallabies would benefit from being watched by a whole lot of people who haven't seen them play...

Well how would it damage rugby? I don't see why anyone would stop supporting rugby just because a team lost in a hybrid game. And I don't think there's the same animosity between the codes in NZ as there is here. I think the NZRU would consider it if they were offered a couple of million or more.

    Rugby News from unexpected places

I think they already have the talent to be a top 10 team. They were leading Scotland by 7 points at half time in their match before capitulating in the 2nd half. And they were competitive with both Japan and Samoa. Give them a better coach and they'd be a much stronger team. They've been playing...

So if the Wallabies were to lose a game of hybrid rugby everyone would stop supporting the Wallabies in rugby union? Seems pretty unlikely to me. But hey, maybe too many people in the decision chain would think like you do, which would block any Wallabies vs Kangaroos game. But I bet we'll see...

Yes it's not union, it's a hybrid. Rugby itself has sevens which doesn't have positions for every body shape either! And in the first filmed hybrid game 2 or 3 years ago Keebra Park, one of the top league high schools in Australia lost to Aggies. So the league team doesn't always win.

The bragging rights for the winner would be only for winning a game of hybrid rugby, nothing else. When Australia lose in the international rules does that automatically make the gaelic footballers more talented athletes? Are AFL fans shamed into giving up the sport for the GAA? Yeah...

Why does it play into league's hands? Rugby would benefit from the bigger league fan base wanting to watch it. That would drive the revenue.

How do you figure that? A novelty just means it's unusual and new. Twenty20 was a novelty, international rules was a novelty. These things can work. If it was played at the highest level with top players people would watch it. A lot of people. At least the first few times anyway.

I can't believe how defensive some of you guys are about the hybrid game. It is a novelty concept, no one would say otherwise. It's simply a set of rules to create a reasonably even contest between a rugby league team and a rugby union team. And having seen a couple of the games (1 where Wests...

They did well in Noosa. Lost by just 5 points in the semi finals to a NZ development team that included a few of their regular world series players.

Well the other way of looking at it is that he can't really lose.

RWC 2015 Semi Final 2 - Australia v Argentina Twickenham, Monday 19 October, 2:45 AEDT

Pretty good article about the rise of Argentinian rugby: http://www.therugbypaper.co.uk/features/columnists/brendan-gallagher/24104/brendan-gallagher-this-golden-generation-of-pumas-will-top-the-world/ So they're not going to be a flash in the pan basically. I think this tournament will prove...

If Pocock isn't fit then we can still win. We've beaten Argentina numerous times without Pocock and we can do so again. Have a little faith people!

Sounds promising. Will it be concentrated in a particular area or will teams come from throughout the country? And will it be genuinely professional? (i.e. players paid enough to make a living from it)

RWC 2015 Semi Final 2 - Australia v Argentina Twickenham, Monday 19 October, 2:45 AEDT

If we defend as passively as we did against Scotland then we'll get carved up. But I suspect that won't be the case. We got our bad game out of the way and now have a chance to rectify it. Hard to know how Argentina will perform in this match. If they play as well as they did against Ireland...

RWC QF 3 IRE v ARG (Millenium Stadium) 18th Oct 2300 AEDT

It's been good to see Argentina transforming their game. They've struggled with it for the past 2 or 3 years, but the signs of improvement have been there. What a time for it to really click. Great to see attacking rugby winning out.
