Sorry mate don't know much more than that, I'm not too familiar with schoolboy footy stars and only hear this info second hand, im not currently involved in the day to day coaching/recruitment at GPS Aside from those you just mentioned though I have heard that Henry Devine a handy centre from...

Thanks for your response Cat. I agree there can be a conflict of interest. I know last year there were a few blokes on Picone's books, namely Mitch Wade and Moi (prop/hooker whos full name escapes me) who pretty much played only as fresh reserves for Prems and not many, if any, games in reggies...

Apparently Brett Picone (GPS Prem Grade Assistant coach) is quickly becoming fairly unpopular within the club rugby circles, particularly at colts level. For those unaware, he runs of sports management company (Top Marque Sports I think) who specialise in rugby players in europe, australia, nz...

The appointment of Anthony Herbert as CEO of GPS, from what I understand is merely a bi-product of the merger of junior and senior clubs and fits into their model of running the club with more business orientated goals like they did in 2013 which was the first year the club turned a sizeable...

The chat about Logan on the Premier Grade thread and the notion of them developing a strong colts program for the future just got me thinking, how is colts depth looking at the clubs for 2014? We focus a lot on the stars in this thread (with good reason as it is about Premier Colts) but without...

Yeh I know Pup McCormack is good mates with some of the GPS coaches through the JGC program so no doubt he'd be issuing a couple of please explains as to the whereabouts of his former players haha

Im guessing that would be him

Just reading some of the comments about the Brothers guys who've moved to GPS so thought i'd chime in with what I know after talking with the guys over the last week. The Rodwell playing hooker 'experiment' is a long term thing that Buzz Picone wants to initiate, he'll definitely be playing in...

Last I heard La Motta had stepped away from rugby and was actually competing in bodybuilding competitions, dropped his weight by about 20kgs or something. Not sure if that was just an off season thing but wouldn't be surprised if he has hung up the boots by the sounds of it. Youre right TD...

I actually thought Norths went backwards last season when compared to the strong finish they had to their 2012 season, actual statistics W/L may prove this untrue but I can't be bothered digging them up, just how I felt watching them. Rumour has it that for 2014 there is a large number of lower...

Im not Dan, but I can confirm that. Was brought up during the recent GPS commitee meeting when discussing the draw, from all accounts Logan's top side will be playing as 2nd grade

Filth, as I mentioned earlier I think Shane Drahm coming across from Brothers to GPS is a big reason behind it, from what I understand all the guys coming across are Nudgee 1st XV players so Drahm no doubt would be in their ears, firstly about playing at Brothers but then since November trying...

    Reds 2014

Just been on the Reds website, not trying to be too negative but does anyone else think 50,000 membership target is a bit large? Currently sitting just under 25,000. Obviously would love to see as many members as possible but geez thats a big number. Been a couple of seasons now since we won the...

Yeh heard just before that as of last night Brothers made an offer to Magnay to cover some of his expenses this year, mostly study costs and I believe hes taken that offer. Some of the other guys you mentioned have come to GPS because they are being looked after by Picone's sports management firm.

Word down at the first 'official' week of training at GPS is: 1) Sam Greene has been offered an EPS spot 2) Richard Graham is heavily pushing him towards playing for Easts in 2014 Interesting as its the first time i've heard Easts name thrown around as a destination for his services.

Apparently Magnay and Tuttle were training with the Gallopers this week. Drahm has managed to pull about 4-5 blokes from Nudgee who had been training with Brothers over to GPS in the last week.

    Reds 2014

Ahh fair enough, forgot that was the case. Find it a bit unfair for players who then don't end up cracking the top side, but thats a conversation for another thread... Im really looking forward to the Ballymore trial game, love that place. Hopefully sell it out.
  18. TheBigDog

    Reds 2014

My understanding is that he only played a couple of uncapped matches for Ireland which would mean he wouldn't take up the spot.
  19. TheBigDog

    Reds 2014

Fairly sure Phil Kite has one of the EPS spots. Was at a function with some GPS board members a few weeks ago and that was their chat, although could just be pumping up a club player. Do the Reds still have a marquee international spot? If Robbo is out for a while maybe they're on the lookout...

If Greene to GPS is true then its great news for the club. I made a few comments after the 2013 GF about the difference in quality of the flyhalves was evident. Brandon being a standout Premier player, whilst McWhirter being the solid club toiler and how much better Brandon controlled the game...
