    Regional rugby

Boyo, maybe re-post these over in the appropriate thread on the Rugby Discussion forum. This thread is for discussing regional rugby mainly through match reports and player / coach roundabouts.

    Where's PAE going?

Where to for quality Rugby journalism???

Emu, you have to be a subscriber to be able to read that article. Can you give a summary of what he said or quote the most relevant parts. Cheers.

    Regional rugby

Can you reveal a source or at least where you heard this rumour? It would be interesting considering they dropped out of first grade in 2013.

    The League Media

"As a Raiders fan" I thought they were a myth. You must be the only one left after their gun side retired in the 1990s. Enjoy the wooden spoon this year under Ricky Stuart, he's got quite the coaching knack of achieving them.

    Waratahs 2015

Hiring an ex-player with no coaching experience because he was a good on-field leader. That worked really well for England with Martin Johnson so we should do it as well.

How do you coach scrum improvement?

Does this come back to Bruce Ross observation that the Wallabies and Super Rugby teams do not lift big weights in season as the Kiwi teams do?

Should there be a 2nd Tier RWC

I've thought for a number of year a 4 yearly amateur rugby world cup - made up entirely of amateur players, though some countries outside the top 2 tiers could be given dispensation, could go well. Make it a 32 team tournament (similar to the dive-ballers) and hold it in countries that are not...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Just phoned channel 10 and they are not showing the rugby. More money showing a constant stream of infomercials apparently (if the tv guide is anything to go by).

How do you coach scrum improvement?

Melbourne, we did that with Ben Alexander, who the Brumbies sent to Sale for a couple of seasons (prior to 2007) to learn how to scrum. From memory he spent most of his time on the bench.

    Waratahs 2015

Met Stephen Hoiles today, thoroughly nice bloke and had my photo taken with him and the Super Rugby trophy. Had a lot of good things to say about the 'tahs for next year and how Cheik coaching both them and the Wallabies was a good thing as he needed to be busy. Talked about the Phil Hughes tragedy and...

How do you coach scrum improvement?

teach, I know how you feel. In my final year I was playing with sons of the men I played with when I first started playing grade. When that happened I knew it was time I thought about retiring (that and the wife telling me I had too as she was sick of the 4 days of whining about the soreness of...

How do you coach scrum improvement?

teach, I wouldn't worry too much about the forwards in Oz being called 'pigs' or 'piggies' as it is a term of endearment. Pigs like rolling around in the mud and so do forwards is what it is based on IIRC. Like you I could barely catch, pass, kick or tackle and as soon as I was fat enough to...

    The League Media

For reunification to happen it would need to be a gradual process whereby the rules of league changed to those of rugby. this could be done by allowing the scrum to become a real contest (over a number of seasons with incremental rule changes), allowing players to strike at the ball at the ruck...

Proud of My Rugby Club Thread

Yes,Gristle Stephen Hoiles is the guest speaker and the super rugby trophy will apparently be on display. The $100 includes drinks as well apparently. Looking forward to a great afternoon catching up with past clubmates and hearing the stories of the clubs more successful days in the 1980s.

    Breaking the Post-RWC Cycle

Any word on how long Paul Alo-Emile is signed on with the Rebels? Would be great to see him stay in Oz as IMHO he is our next long-term THP. At least get him capped or Oz A so that if he wants to play international he would need to return to Oz.

    Rugby Promotion and Marketting

Since professionalism all of the ads have been aimed at "selling" the Wallabies rather than the game. I remember in the early 90s the ad campaign "What do you want to be?" and the whole "running game" song. the Wallabies were used to promote the game and get kids involved. IMHO it comes down to...

    Rugby Promotion and Marketting

My local rugby union has been MIA on the promotion front the past couple of weeks. In quick succession we've had Ourimbah junior Adam Ashley-Cooper earn his 100th test cap, no mention in the local rag or as far as I'm aware on local tv or radio. Then this past weekend Avoca junior Matt Hodgson...
