I am sure the results at the end of the season are likely to prove me wrong, but I going to make an initial assessment on where the schools could well finish up position wise for the 2017 season. I sure others will have differing assessments, but here goes:- 1/ SJC, but could finish with a...

Thank you,Inside Shoulder, for your extensive response to the culture at Sydney Grammar and why Rugby is no longer flourishing. These comments should stand as a warning to all rugby/sports playing schools, that some educators are very hostile to our style of education and the role rugby plays...

Honey Badger, a few alterations I have to make, is that Newington should be well ahead of Cranbrook. Or on par with Waverly and even Kings. I would place Cranbrook only ahead of Aloys. Newington,Kings and St.Augustine's all have quality A Teams, but do not have the depth of Joeys, View and Scots.

Establishing a Rugby culture within a school is never a straight forward matter. In my experience its the school's leadership that really counts, followed by a supportive teaching staff who are prepared to coach after school. This is again assisted by parental support, number of Rugby Ovals and...

Thanks CatchPass, Hopefully, I and other New Supporters such as yourself will be to watch this side in action in the coming weeks and months. I also read on this site ( courtesy of Quick Hands) that the Opens Age Group maybe fielding 8 teams. Great to see Newington Rugby moving forward.

Armchair Selector, as a new supporter I am surprised you rate our 16As so highly. They certainly achieved some great results, but were also well beaten by View 19-34 in Round one and 54-0 by Joeys in round two. Do they have enhanced firepower courtesy of our Tongan Connections who usually...

Compared to the results other schools, that year against Joeys, Scots if I have remember correctly had the best result of any of us. Now, remembering we are talking about events that some 36 years ago, so my memory might be a bit blurred. Joeys V Kings won 36-9 Joeys V Grammar Won 47-3...

And Scots supporters claim and probably rightfully so, that they were the only team that came close to beating the 1981 Joeys Centenary Team. However, Waves had a brilliant team that year also. Who I believe were also undefeated. There was no match between either of these two champion teams...

Yes, there is definitely an obsessive element in Sydney and Brisbane GPS/CAS/ AIC Rugby. Indeed, it has led to some fanatical behaviour by supporters, particularly Old Boys. Most notably in recent years between our two great schools Catholic Schools( Or how an old Joeys mate of mine, referred...

One version I heard was that certain schools wished to have lesser GPS Games and more games against CAS and ISA opponents. In order to improve their Win /Loss Ration over the Rugby season. But also their is a belief that a shorter GPS season as suggested above, increases the likelihood of shared...

With only 5 rounds, I getting the impression that the field is wide open, although Scots might be considered something of a favourite. My expectation in these very early days is a joint premiership between two or even three schools. With Joeys, Scots and Kings as the potential top teams...

Newington fielding 8 Teams in the open age group. Great to see. Clearly some coaches and the Rugby Master are earning their pay cheques. In 2015 the then 16s fielded only 2 teams. Last year 16s fielded 4 teams. Maybe also, soccer is finally losing its appeal at Newington and Rugby regaining its...

Great to see Grammar's Rugby making a comeback. This is long overdue. Further, Rugby is the game of the Universities. Hence, because of Grammar's unparalleled academic achievement, within the Independent School System. One will hope, Academia and Rugby can have a closer relationship at Grammar...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

In view of Shore's massive waiting list, a take over of All Saints and a remake of the School into a bigger, more attractive school to encourage higher enrolments, would be a boost to schoolboy Rugby numbers. Additionally, the closure of the Anglican Orange Grammar School and Macquarie Grammar...

Could be Shore, Dr Wright was the Headmaster of All Saints, before he became Head of Shore. There is also Church of England connection between the two schools.

TKS may have a lot less teams, No more 4 or 5 Teams in the age Divisions, these days. But the quality of their A teams is excellent from what I have seen against Newington. Their 1st,2nds and 3rds are also excellent. So long as this quality is maintained, TKS supporters have less to be worried...

    CAS Rugby 2017

I forget to mention that Joeys were also the grand masters of the repeat student., as was Shore. Although this issue is now decades past and belongs to another era ( Ended with Jika retiring in 1984). In 1985 Joeys repeated their entire front row, who were all Australian Schoolboys from 1984...

Which clubs are the Class of 2016 going to?

Sounds similar to Sydney University, who have also attracted great depth and talent for their club. It appears to be an advantage to have a uni nearby, or be a University Club these days. 20 years ago Sydney University was struggling as a club and were even beaten by Penrith. As a Woodies...
