ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

Asics are just about as overrated as it gets. They make some distinctly average kit, shoes and clothes both. We need the money and they're looking to expand their market, so fair enough, but we could have done better.

    Rebels 2014

Utility I reckon. He's very, very, small. It got him caught out a bit last year, although it was helped by the fact that the Rebels kept using him on unders lines and crash balls in the middle of the park which was beyond mental. At the moment he's not really good enough to command a starting...

    Rebels 2014

They're going to want to have a good reason for that. I will be wildly unimpressed if he's gone elsewhere in Australia or New Zealand. If he's off to France or Japan to chase money then there's not much the club can do. It's going to be a long year if Lachie Mitchell is still considered starting...

    Rebels 2014

I agree. I'd be very happy if he signed though, even if it is just for a year or two. Despite the flack he gets because people have decided he's lazy, he's easily in the best 3 or 4 locks in Australia. Probably the best scrummaging lock we have at the very least. He's a hard bastard, draws...

You want to take only two scrumhalves to Europe? Dreaming.

    2013 EOYT

No Sio? Harris? Dennis? There's some pretty meh selections in there.

You've got mail on Timani? I like the idea of Lopeti coming off the bench with 20 to go, just running around being a mad dog. No way he'd be starting though.

Jones is only 22 in fairness. He's a better 6 than he is a lock really. I'm not sure about the hooker, but outside of that... Smith ? Weeks Neville Pyle Jones Fainga'a Higgers Timani Jr. Fuglistaller

    Rebels 2014

He is. I imagine the early pecking order will be Fainga'a - Fuglistaller - Reid. I wonder whether they'll play a bit of dual-7s at times, against certain teams anyway. Shifting Jones in to lock then playing Fainga'a at 6, we could see a seriously mobile pack.

    Rebels 2014

Ahh, I have heard that about Pyle. The exact quote was 'what a dickhead.' We'll see though, not sure that exactly equates to being mentally weak. He was in great form this season, if he can keep playing like that I'll be happy enough. Agreed on Neville's motor, it's ridiculous for a man his...

    Rebels 2014

He's a big upside player. High-risk, high-reward. I've always liked that in a flyhalf to be honest. He can light a game up, can move a team around the park, can make things happen off his own back. He's young and exciting and the sort of person you want to get along to see. If he flakes out...

    Rebels 2014

How do you figure? Neville is a long way from being a good Soup player at the moment. His body position is abysmal, doesn't actually know how to play rugby especially well - he's just a beast of an athlete. As for the two 7s, there's no way Reid is harder than Fainga'a. Reid is reckless in...

    Rebels 2014

WOOOO! I was talking about that earlier in this thread. Ihaia West has been absolutely lighting things up. I will be so very, very, happy if we sign him. I don't care how roar, or even raw, he is - he's a gem.
  14. Dumbledore

    Rebels 2014

I believe you, but I don't think the upside is worth it in either the short or long term. I'd much rather put the minutes into Pyle, Neville, Jones etc.

    Rebels 2014

Mumm just isn't someone the Rebels need right now. And frankly I'd rather see Melbourne be a place where the most talented kids in Australia want to come and play, because they know they'll get a shot, not a nice soft landing for players on their way out.

    Yeah... Okay.

Getting a release from his ARU contract for 2013-14 apparently. Sickening waste of talent.

    Springboks v Wallabies, Newlands, September 28 2013

Are there any new coaches apart from McKenzie? Namely defence? We've regressed massively. Incredibly stressful to watch.

    Rebels 2014

    Cheers. Sounds a decent get.

    Rebels 2014

Where will McMahon fit in? Backrow is somewhere we actually have decent depth. Higgers and Timani Jr. at 8; Jones and Higgers at 6; Colby, Reid and Fuglistaller at 7.
