That's harsh.. I discounted all the contracted players and a bunch more turned out to be injured. Their replacements were guys I had named in GPS 2 anyway like Siggs, Tabaui-Fidow and Vela-Tupuhi. Max Dowd and Trevor Hosea were obvious selections had they been available, and it turns out they...

Tom Gilbert has been named in the Queensland U18 state of origin team for June 21. I imagine that's why he's not trialling for the Queensland Schoolboys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wonder if Mr and Mrs Brown enjoyed rap music in the 90s? :D I hope the kid's got a middle name. Drekwon TuBiggie Brown would just be perfect

Hearing more from the boys as we speak. Halatoa Puafisi (TGS) has ruptured his ACL and is out indefinitely as he waits for surgery. Tristan Stanghorn (ACGS) has a broken scapula that ruled him out of the QLD Trials but he'll be right for the GPS Season and as a late call-up to Aus if need...

With a tough preseason under their belts, three GPS Schoolboys teams have been selected to contest the Queensland Schoolboys trials at Ballymore from the 21-23 June. Nudgee College, Gregory Terrace and Brisbane Boys' College are the best represented schools, with 10 players selected each.

Chasing fool's gold, Serge. Without the cattle in the forwards there's no way BGS can compete with the big dogs up front, though the backline will win them their fair share of games provided everyone can stay on the field...

That could well be right. Maybe League "connected" would be a better way to describe a few of the guys I listed. I agree - it would be a shame if Hosea never represents a Schoolboy team. But the Reds will need to operate in their own self interest. I don't think it's their responsibility to...

If Hosea will never play for Queensland, what's the point in the Reds trying to develop him? He'll just come back to bite them when he plays for the Rebels. Angus Blyth didn't sign with the Reds at school, he signed a Reds U20s "contract" which amounts to a non-compete clause. He promises...

You can't have $1.80 favourites before the season even kicks off! Punters would be outraged. I think you're being a little too kind to Terrace, but this is a bloody good approximation. There's not really enough value anywhere in that field to buy in. So I guess as a bookie you've done poorly?

I've only seen four school's trial so I really can't. If we assume pro players are unavailable for selection, my best guess: 1. Halatoa Puafisi (TGS) 2. Eugene Koorts (IGS) 3. Moses Alo-Emile (BSHS) 4. Tom van der Schyff (TSS) 5. Harry Wilson (GT) 6. Mitch Wood (NC) 7. Joe Small (NC) 8...

Yes, an unforgivable oversight on my part. He was excellent Speaking of players that I should have praised, the BBC #2 reminded me a lot of NZ Schools and NZ U20s hooker Asafo Aumua. Very, very dynamic when given room to run Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BBC's superior depth earned a hard-fought 12-0 win over BGS. The starting team struggled to crack a Grammar defensive line that had been subjected to two yellow cards. Several try-scoring opportunities went begging before Trevor Hosea forced his way through midway through the half. From there...

BGS look like they finally have the potential to finish mid-table, winning 12-7 against BSHS. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow was the star of the show with classy cameos from two bash artists in the centres, Tom Gilbert and Dennis Waight. When BGS attacked wide they unravelled a State High team with all...

Trevor Hosea really is an excellent player. Best on ground thus far in BBC v BSHS, with the BBC flyhalf not too far behind with several linebreaks. The BBC #13, BBC #8 and BSHS #15 have both been very good. BBC's backline looks particularly undersized, but it looks like they've left some cattle...
