Given Steve Job's passing this week, I will be supporting iLand today

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

In this, Deans said Barnes has a virus, maybe another reason why he is on the bench to start.

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

As in you expect him to dominate or as in you will find out whether he is up to it?

Say It Ain't So!!! McCaw may be GONE...

I have plenty of kiwi friends here in Sydney and travel to NZ regularly for work. The vast vast vast majority of kiwis are good to talk to re rugby and are far from cocky re this RWC. Very few of them are poor winners too. I feel better for having said that. I think McCaw has been quiet this...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Combine the best of Berrick and McCabe and you get McBarnes. I am ok with Barnes starting from the bench. I do think it will be a defence dominated game and so space (if any) is likely to arise later in the game. Plus if we are ahead we should play territory in the last 10 or so and Berrick...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Whether I am ok with the starting team or not depends on how the bench is used. We know the boks will use their bench relatiuvely early in the game (by Dean's standards anyway) and it will propbably lift them. We need to do the same. Good to see Sharpe on the bench, tough on Simmons but I...

    Robbie Deans

Consider yourself corrected. We have done it quite a few times, including this years 3Ns.

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Yes, although I think the Wobbs need to get ahead early for this reason given we can expect the boks to come home stringly, exactly the opposite of what occured in Durban. Getting ahead early will also help with Bryce me thinks.

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

9 Genia 10 Cooper, 11 Ioane, 12 Barnes, 13 AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), 14 JOC (James O'Connor) 15 Beale Would be my backline for this weekend. Barnes has a better kicking game than Mccabe and I think we will need it in the wet V SA. McCabe will be on the bench given he covers 11 to 15.

RWC 2011 - Bitch, moan and discuss - Referees and Law Discussions

And if so, there is a good chance it will be ABs Vs Aus or SA given England are likely to knock over the frogs this weekend. I don't understand the process that sees us have Bryce for 3 out of our first 5 games at the RWC.

    Dan Carter out of cup

Carter being injured brings me no joy but I think the kiwis are far from done. Which of the other teams is looking impressive - I can't think of one, except, maybe for ireland depending on how they go v italy. BAd luck for Dan, you would have to think that 2016 will be a bridge to far for him.

    Shute Shield 2011

To be fair to Tilse, the uni second row was Dennis and Mumm. No prop would thrive in these circumstances.
