    Refereeing decisions

I know you're not supposed to touch the ref, but that decision does seem a touch harsh. Clearly there was no malice in it and you get less for coat-hangering someone.

    Australia v Argentina - 21 November, Newcastle

Strange. Almost no one on these boards would challenge his athleticism. From his play he appears to have a huge engine, he jumps well and is quick. The criticism has come because he doesn't monster people like the iconic 6's did (think Kaino etc).

New Zealand vs Argentina, Nov 14, 2020

I'd take the whole Argentinian backrow! They were absolutely awesome yesterday, totally dominating NZ in a way we've never been able to do even when we've beaten them.

Bledisloe #4 New Zealand vs Australia Nov 7 2020

No, just means he watches Rugby League where both hits would not have rated anything more than a penalty and the citing commissioner/panel would have exonerated them.

Bledisloe #4 New Zealand vs Australia Nov 7 2020

Neither were soft Reds! He's probably just seen too many refs bottle it when faced with a Kiwi having to be dismissed. Both were shoulder directly to the neck/chin area and both tacklers went in very hard. Given the potential for head injury, the red cards were exactly right. I hope this...

GAGR Wallaby Player of the Year v ABs (Brisbane)

    3. Koro 2. Phillip 1. Hodge Tupou deserved to make the top 3; but 4 into 3 don't go!

Bledisloe #4 New Zealand vs Australia Nov 7 2020

Don't both red cards face the judiciary with a prospect of a three match holiday? (WR (World Rugby) protocols suggest 6 weeks reduced to 3 for good record). I thought red cards meant a mandatory citing.

    Wallabies 2020

Well, it appears RA have caved again (surprise, surprise) and our very new team and coaching set-up will have four (count-em FOUR) games against NZ in the first five weeks. This is utter madness. We should have told the Kiwi's to just suck it up. Four in five weeks against anyone is nuts...

    Wallabies 2020

If Rennie plays JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 and DHP at 15 then defensive kicks are likely to be fielded by both of them and Koro/Daugunu will be up in the line. That's the way the Reds played it all year. So whether Daugunu is or isn't a liability under the high ball defensively is likely to be a moot point as...

    Wallabies 2020

I would have chosen Naisirani at 8 for precisely that reason, but this is no longer an option. Rennie has chosen few line-bending types (he seems to prefer workhorses). Wilson to me is more a gap-runner than a line-bender.

    Wallabies 2020

Naisirani definitely, I remain absolutely baffled that we don't want him in the first two Bledisloes. Kuridrani though, has been on a slow downhill form track for nearly two years and I think his time has gone.

    Wallabies 2020

Everyone here has totally written him off as the worst player ever to make the Wallabies, but to my mind a backrow of Hanigan, Hooper and Samu would be our best option with both Wright and Wilson on the bench. Hanigan subs into lock at 60 with Wright and Wilson coming on for Samu. Phillips and...

Super Rugby AU Round 7 - Force vs Waratahs @ Robina - Friday 14 August

And once intent is key then there is always doubt. Only those that have superpowers can say for certain what was in the mind of the player and I seriously doubt any of our referees have that unique ability. For this reason, any time you see the word "intentionally" written into law (either rugby...

Super Rugby Au Round 7 - Reds v Rebels @ Suncorp Stadium, 7:15pm Sat 15 Aug

Thankfully, selection for the Wallabies isn't based one one performance. All the games will figure in the outcome. FWIW I thought Naisirani had a slightly-off game this week, but the week before he was absolutely immense against the star-studded Brumby pack. This week Wilson went well but last...

Super Rugby AU Round 7 - Force vs Waratahs @ Robina - Friday 14 August

I thought Graeme Cooper in his first time out last week was pretty good. It's the experienced refs, especially Angus Gardener, that I think are not doing well.

Super Rugby AU Round 7 - Force vs Waratahs @ Robina - Friday 14 August

This game, because the Force can't make the finals from here, would have been a pretty good opportunity. Alas. And I thought Graham Cooper did an excellent job for his first time out!

Super Rugby AU Round 7 - Force vs Waratahs @ Robina - Friday 14 August

Amy Perrett gets another AR stint - her seventh I think. I'm calling tokenism!

Super Rugby AU Round 6 - Waratahs vs Reds @ SCG, Saturday 8 August 2020

Getting carded in your very first game a couple of minutes after you got put on is pretty devastating. Not surprised he was upset, anyone would be. Given that the whole front row was getting mullered it was more a team yellow, but that wouldn't make him feel much better. He just has to get back...
