As mentioned IS, Shore are not in any danger of giving up their "principles", Grammar maybe so, but their removal of a focus on sport probabyl comprpmised what has otherwise been a rich sporting history? Is that a compromising of principles in itself?

HJ, IIRC, Grammar had a change of "tact" this year from their new HM to removing the attention and focus previously there for sports. Someone more in the know might be able to provide the details. Shore is by no means an angel on the recruitment front, i was simply refering to rugby. If Shore...

IS, assuming you speak of the men from College Street, i would have to say you amke a very damning point when comparing them to our national "heroes". I for one would be more then happy to see the New skipper pop up at College Street next year, would also be happy to see their headmaster...

Also didn't the New U13's destroy anyone and anything in their path this year. Organically brilliant, or are we talking Kurtley Beale Organic?

I have no doubt your assumption is spot on, and that New may have been a bit more willing to admit they had gone to far. I think Scots should accept that with the B'Ball they have gone to far, but that would be it, as i am yet to see any real evidence of mass importing in any other sport (or...

Lindommer, whilst this season may have been an organic one for the north shore men, don't for a second convince yourself all has been a rosy affair. I know of some who have been offered "spots" in the VIII who were top level rowers at other schools, two of which left and went to shore in year 11...

Wow, who made this guy the policeman. As it seems the journos and schools are reading this thread (unless the use of 'Arms Race' in today's press was co-incidental) , give us some something. If all the schools can do it, how much? 1 or 2 players, 10%, 50%, Five Eights count as double, wingers...

http://www.smh.com.au/national/education/stakes-high-as-schools-dabble-in-elite-approach-to-success-20130924-2ucad.html Someone at the Herald really wants to blow TSC out of the water. I dare say if you put some of the other schools under the magnifying glass, you wuld find some pretty high...

That is a solid post fsrugby. Agree with 96% of it too, and agree that Scots have done the "wrong thing" by way of the GPS code of conduct. What is the glaring issue for me, isn't that Scots or New have broken the code (which they obviously have, Scots should at least admit this much), but it...

QH no doubts what so ever that some may see a problem, even one they are a part of, and wish to make a change. My issue however (as appears to be highlighted by the post from Paddogreen regarding starting after year 9 numbers) is that, from a rugby perspective, the other schools still have big...

My apologies Lindommer, My peptide infused rage at watching my old alma mater being dragged through the mud got me a bit hot under the collar. Dear old Ma and Pa would be most unimpressed with my spelling, however they would be a whole lot more disappointed that they had to pay full fees for...

IS i understand your point, however as HJ has gone on to mention, with any legitimate agreement, there will be creative work, such as the age old one athletes getting a triangle scholarship (it has happened, and also on an academic level). Even to the extent of a legitamate 3rd party paying for...

There's lots of things in life that I'm "deprived" of because I can't afford to pay. BMW sports cars, waterfront home, 1st class flights to Europe etc. I'm not actually being "deprived" of any of them, because I have no entitlement to them in the first place. But QH, if a benefactor of some...

Not arguing with you for a minute on both points, and am all for both, boarders starting late and indigenous support, but dont believe that it should stop at indigenous support. I think the schools should be encouraged to have as many boys on bursaries as possible to give more boys the...

Dont know the name of the bloke, but i watched my cousin play in the U15 sydney side a few years back. he didnt make NSW but i thought id go watch anyway. The State captain (a flanker IIRC) magically then appeared at Joeys a few weeks later from way up north somewhere! I think he was in the 1s...

My apologies if incorrect, was based on a passing comment from a person at Scots, assumed it likely to be correct given he started late and didnt last very long. In any case the point wasnt to make a case against the boy, rather to make a case that could anyone from Kings, View, Joeys in all...

And sorry Brian Westlake, that wasn't directed at you, it was just the cricket thing that sparked the rant!

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

I dont see the arguement here. As i understand it, there were some talented boys "parachuted" in to the TSC team (made some calls to mates yesterday to track some info down), however they were beaten, and didnt win the comp, so hardly an arguement for world domination there (or a poor program)...

QS it is beyond a joke that the other schools are "taking a stand" when kids at every school this year have been there on some form of assistance, and some have magically also been talented at sport. No one has complained that grammar marks are so high and they "win" the academics each year off...
