    NSW AAGPS Rugby U/16 2012

Was the New 16As side missing a number of players through unavailabilty due to opens promotion or injury? The reason I ask is that I heard that a number of players from New's strong 15As side (mainly forwards) had been promoted to the 16s. Yet View had solid wins in both the 15As & 16As...

Excellent prediction, Swat, especially given that you were virtually a lone voice; (Horne might even have doubted the strength of your prediction). However, you will recall that he did have a self-inflicted period in the wilderness due to his ill-judged tackle on Beale.

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2012

At the conclusion of LG's post at #537 he said: "28 players will be chosen to tour Fiji and NZ and the team will be announced on 14th August." With upcoming domestic matches there'll be chances for incumbents and aspirants to shine.

Selection politics and bias, Gold Squads unfairness etc.

HJ, thank you. IMO your posts today deserve a wider audience, including, to the ARU, public/sports high schools etc. Some sound reasoning for expansion/promotion of the game at schoolboy level.

Rob Horne played many more minutes than almost anyone at the start of the season (possibly even himself) was willing to predict. All facets of his game improved as the season progressed. With some more tests under his belt may his confidence translate into match winning performances for the...

Australian Schoolboys & National Championships 2012

Of course, it depends. I think Bernard Foley's time as captain of the Oz 7s will serve him & hopefully the Tahs well in the long term. His spatial awareness and timing of his runs made him look special from fullback even in a number of losing Tahs' performances this year. He's obviously still...

    NSW U/15 Representative Team 2012

WZ beat WA 18-12 which hardly qualifies as a smashing. Although WZ beat SZ 30-10, WA beat SZ by the same margin, 27-7. If WZ "gave it to NZ" in the forwards it didn't translate into dominance on the scoreboard. Waratahs' fans know that winning in the forwards isn't enough to be saved from...

Best to direct your question in the GPS U/16 2012 thread. U16s Shores' supporters & those knowledgeable of that team are more likely to be found there.

KOB1987, if you wish to reply to a fellow poster, hit "reply" (next to "like") in the bottom right hand corner of that poster's post & hey presto, it will appear. What game is depicted in your avatar? Congratulations to all boys, family, friends & schools on their selections - wishing you...

    Waratahs V Brumbies @ Homebush

I agree Ash. However, you'll recall we had all the early running in the 1st round clash & failed to convert then tries both side of half time killed the Tahs' hopes. Tahs did look the more willing. However, 2nd half breaks must be converted into points. Yet another close loss will be unbearable.

Great reward for the Tahs taking two 5m scrums from penalties, quick tap by Barnes after 3rd successive penalty - TRY TPN! Tahs' scrum gaining ascendency.

I wholeheartedly agree, Rugby Mum 2, & respectfully suggest that Sydneybra reflects more carefully on the facts before posting such comments re: politics (the stuff for another thread?) Let's see if we can concentrate on the rugby & wish both the city & country boys all the best for their...

Doonsley, I am a Gordon supporter & agree that the U14s did seem to get the raw end of the pineapple in the GF. However, I think it's a big stretch to generalize that refs are constantly "such an issue for Gordon supporters at state champs year in and year out." IMO the referees of Gordon's...

    Wallabies versus Wales- SFS

Bounce of the Gilbert saved us at the end. Scrappy, but any 3-0 victory over the 6Ns champs not to be dismissed lightly - the Welsh desperate & valiant. Bardon, thanks for your support. May Irish eyes be smiling against the ABs - we're with you.

    Wallabies versus Wales- SFS

The Welsh anthem always does it for me. Personally, I prefer a baritone though. I was fortunate to be living in North Wales in the early 90s & attended a number of 5N matches & saw the Wallabies win at the old Cardiff Arms Park in 1992 - the Welsh singing always gave me shivers & lifted the...

WJ, although Jack Gibson rightly said words to the effect of "Nothing good happens after midnight", your inspired creation of this thread at 12.12 am is the exception to that rule. May this thread have more shelf life & more replies than the "What is wrong with the Tahs".

Firstly, congratulations to all boys selected. The memories & experiences gained will undoubtedly linger long after they have played their last "Golden Oldies" match & assume armchair critic status like some of the rest of us. Secondly, with the trial games now well under way & the spread of...
