    Sydney Subbies 2016

Newport Colts comeback from 28-7 against a team who lost only one game all year almost defies belief.

Agreed in relation to your comment around UNSW. Well done Waverley and Hills for overcoming the 'Stack'

Population density on the Northern beaches is very different to other parts of unitised Sydney. From Manly to Palm Beach west to Forestville only holds around 180000 of Sydney's 4500000 people. That sustains 2 Shute Shield clubs, 2 div clubs and 5 other 1 team clubs. Contrast that against...

DIVISION 3: Newport (demoted allegedly by choice), Barker OB (demoted), Lindfield (feel like this will be their landing spot), Brothers, Epping, Hawkesbury Valley, Old Ignatians, St Ives Would be a popular Northside Competition with a bus trip to Hawkesbury Valley.

I spoke to players and officials on Saturday and the common theme is what about the other 4 or 5 clubs that people suspect to be paying players in Div 1 & 2. Lindfield is just the tip of the iceberg but others are to smart to get caught.

Newport apparently lead 19-13 with 10 to go but two late converted tries to Hills sealed it.

Yes appears subbies are now intent on destroying the club. Harsh start to next season will players exit in droves. They might drop to 3rd Div leaving 3 clubs having to come up from Div 3 to fill the gaps.

There goes any crowd support for DIV 2 clubs. I get the circumstances around field availability but you couldn't have chosen a worse destination if you'd tried.

Sorry forgot to add Mountains have beaten both Waverley and Forest in both home and away fixtures this year. Not an easy feat at Melwood and Waverley oval either.

    Sydney Subbies 2016

Forest needs to hope for rain to continue if they are to be a chance against Waverley. My tip for Barraclough remains Blue Mountains just over Hunters. History says clubs with multiple grades in finals struggle. I recall Newport had 4 grades in last year were all bundled out week one...

I have no answers. I remember we played UNSW in rd 17 one year and put 30 on them. Two weeks later they knocked us out of semis with a side that contained only 3 players from two weeks before.

UNSW 43-0 in Blunt Cup defeating Forest who also needed to win to make semis. Hopefully Waverley or Hills to strong for them in finals.

Generally unless the visiting club has made you a 'bus trip' destination you don't get many opposition players back. Mountains and Newport always treat each away game between them as a themed bus trip that always seems to be embraced by players.

Helps when they have the best clubhouse in Subbies.
