    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2014

Dear IS, I think hes the same Charlie Smith that represented NSW U15 last year via Mosman and North Sydney Reps. If so that makes him year 10 as a forward this year.If so when was the last forward in year 10 at any GPS school? A mighty achievement that has been overlooked in all this.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Therein lies the problem for the TSC parent. their boys would have been in the As normally but for the bursey students, so it is like for like. The downsizing of their rugby ambitions is obviously biting earlier at Scots with so many bursey players coming in at year seven and earlier.

He's pretty good considering he's only in year 10

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

I believe if we are to have a scholarship cap of 20% for an educational institution like a school it should be extended to universities. Its only fair. if the imbalance caused by scholarships is offensive and threatening to schoolboy rugby it is equally threatening to Club rugby as many have...

One thing is - you have to admire the quality of the Scots team and it is something for all teams to aspire to, including the other teams within Scots. I however do not agree with having Year 13 boys as part of their program. What will be the result of all this? Predictions. Scots can only...

i see in the local paper that the Cranbrook U12's won the 7's championship for the year. That school is doing great things and have the boys all out training before and after school and in the off season. I think under their relatively new headmaster their rugby program will go ahead leaps and...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

The problem is they often have school sport on a Saturday and we are competing with other codes on a Sunday. However the other problem is that they have insufficient recovery time if they play on a Saturday. Let's be original. Let's play our competition on a Wednesday night.

Don't know if anyone has heard the same but apparently scots has now introduced a 1st xv of Academics of scholarship boys for each senior year. If that is the case it should help them win the HSC

Evolution at Green and Gold Rugby - PLEASE READ

to the convenor, these blogs are many pages and there are many repeats, but i guess you are going to get that when nothing changes. I suggest it may add a new dimension if the people responsible in the ARU were asked to formerly join the blogs that relate to their responsibility. It would be...

Trinity are heavily into scholarships. Waverley don't but get a lot of their players poached especially their year 6 Cranbrook have bought in a couple of masters from Milford which is a scholarship rugby school in England so stay tuned on that. Not sure on the rest.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

someone told me the Scots firsts won 50 to 7. If that is the case then they are the winners and their boys will get the spots in the rep sides and be on the Rugby Pathway. If results like these continue then Joeys firsts and others may pull out of playing their firsts like Grammar etc. Defacto...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Look I've posted this before, but scholarships are still full on despite maximum heat last year. They have survived the onslaught, so they are here to stay. If you accept that, what changes if any should be made in the schoolboy competitions?

Trinity are also in the rugby market with a couple of the boys from Waverley Prep A's crossing over next year on scholarship.

The success of League players in Rugby Union

it would be interesting to know how many current Wallabies played junior rugby league. I would suspect a good number. If you want to teach a kid how to tackle, run the ball and where the try line is, you have him play rugby league. Rugby league is our competitive advantage in developing players...

    How to promote the game

You are just throwing good money after bad, our product is crap for a paying audience. Let's get the Asia's right. Firstly, change the name of the ARU to the Australian International Rugby Union and let them be responsible for Wallabies ans Super 18. Remove Australian contract top ups except for...

Super Rugby - I am bored

Australian Crowds for Rugby have been dropping steadily for years. The ARU have concentrated on the top end and never had a bottom up strategy. The NRC is about the 200k licence fee per team to the ARU, nothing else. Unless the NRC radically changes the rules to rid us of the scrum and penalty...

    Shute Shield 2014

The Shute Shield needs a visionary leader. it aint coming from the ARU. They need to find a commercial formula and change the playing rules that will attract spectators. Do we involve Japanese business houses? whatever it may be. The rules need to change as the spectators don't get scrums and...

    Shute Shield 2014

There is talk that the NRC is shelved. Thank God. The whole design was to give $200k per team to the cash strapped ARU. The problem we have in this country is that we have competition from the AFL and NRL who can make changes to their product quickly to meet the market. We cant. we are beholden...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

On this website today it states " Rugby League Fast Becoming a Rugby Union Feeder"! No wonder. The Rugby Union juniors are dying. The ARU don't care and want to suck $200 from them, The Rugby League juniors train in some instances twice a week. Rugby Union juniors once. The union junior training...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

No wonder numbers are dropping. When you compare this to boys in the Souths junior League who pay nothing. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/rugby/juniors-propping-up-aru-the-wallabies-as-australian-rugbys-cash-crisis-hits-new-low/story-fni2fxyf-1226822027140
