That really is wonderful news. The best of luck to all involved.

This is so true. The only gifted and talented trait that's valued is academic.

I think that's probably a bit of a long bow there ATA. There'd be no shortage of schools wanting to take their place but I doubt there'd be any appetite from the GPS to change their structures or partiaipating schools.

Yes if it were up to any other GPS school, High would remain for time eternal and I beleieve all GPS schools are on the record for supporting their ongoing involvement. Sadly, the people who run High (NSW Dof E) arent interested in history, tradtion or what other GPS schools want. It's an...

I'd agree that any team that takes then lightly at home does so at their peril. Pius will need to show a fair bit more through their forward pack if they are to knock off Pats. I thought their forwards were the difference between winning and losing last year to Black. But that's applying reason...

Me neither. The 1sts-in-3rds comp seems to work well for TAS and Grammar but not so much High. At some point or another, they'll just have to bite the bullet and drop Rugby from their school sport offering. That would be a sad day.

As always, the CAS/GPS websites are helpful: Pats Schedule as follows - 29/4 : v Trinity (away) 6/5 : v Cranbrook (home) (also listed as playing View Thirds so not sure what team will play them) 13/5 : v Barker (home) 20/4 : a bit unclear here but it is either High or Grammar (both away)...

Rugby schools, their players, and the pathway to Seniors

Yes agreed - amazing experience for a group that probably wouldnt get a look in elsewhere. There's a lot to be said for a non compulsory sports program. You really do get to guage the health of sport in the school via rates of participation.

Pats are very much focussed on the Japan trip for now and I havent been able to get any trial game news from them. I suspect, as is usualluy the case, we'll have to look at the CAS/GPS schedules and work it out from there.

Good on em! That will be amazing for them.

Geez they'll have no time to catch their breath hey! They could reasonably finish with 5 from 6 and maybe - who knows - a clean sweep! You'll hear the crowing from Castle Hill for weeks :)

Pats are heading over to Japan during the Term 1 holidays. Dont know the schedule just yet but I'm sure that will be a great experience for them.

That would seem like a sensible decision from them.

    Subbies 2023!

Sorry I hadnt connected the dots to Breakers in my mind. Was more commenting on the advertisement for coaches doesn't correlate to Subbies board decisions.

    Exactly

    Subbies 2023!

How is the divisional make up going to improve your day? If last year's champs are advertising for coaches for 3 grades and colts, it's telling me that last year's champs are having issues with their numbers. I dont know how that's the board's fault? Perhaps you have some solutions that the...

If next year's season is anything like this year's it will be a cracker. I genuinely enjoyed not knowing the outcome of any games being played and every team played like each game was theirs to be taken. It made for a compelling and entertaining competition.

I'd agree with that. I dont know the makeup of their forward pack this year but if they retain some of their big work horses, they should be able to provide enough ball to their backs who showed this year that they dont need a lot of it to score tries.
